I stayed here in Sept 2015 for 4 nights. It's an awesome location with easy access to the path train that goes right in to NYC. It's a bit of a walk to the path train... maybe 10-15 minutes but it allows you to connect to the NYC subway system for $2.50 each way. The park is quite good though there is no sewer hook up so you have to pull to the dumping station in the park to empty your tanks. The park is right on the water and has a view of the Statue of Liberty from it. It's a $2 boat ride across the marina and a $15 boat ride from there (discount available over 65) to Ellis Island and Liberty Island and back. It's not overly fancy and the spots are tight with no trees but the area is safe and the location is awesome. Definitely heading back in 2016.

I read a couple of bad reviews that claim it's a parking lot only good if you're visiting NYC... answer yes it is.. what else would you be doing there.

Someone mentions that you have to go in to the office and sign the checkout sheet before leaving... yes you do and they tell you that when you check in and make you sign a form that says you will... you're in the big city and they can't babysit every visitor... they put a bit of the onus on you but I found them very helpful. It's a busy place and their phone rings non stop. If you're not there to see the city then continue on.... otherwise stop in and enjoy... reminds me of the park in the French Quarter of New Orleans... it's a parking lot as well but the fun you can have... well it makes it all worth it :)

We lived at Liberty Harbor for 7 months while working at the Newark International Airport. This is a fantastic location to the subways, Jersey, and lower Manhattan. The people working here are great. The RV park is safe. As others have mentioned, it is just a parking lot, and each spot has electricity and water. There's a dump station or for a fee, they'll drain the tanks on your RV so you don't have to move. The water is shut down when it drops below freezing for a couple of consecutive nights, I believe, so watch the weather, otherwise enjoy. We can't wait to get back if another opportunity arises.

We stayed at Liberty Harbor RV Park for 4 nights this summer.
The campground doesn't look like a campground, but more like a parkingplace for RV's.
But on the other hand, it's very close to NY City, and that's why we came here.
It's probably more expensive than a campground outside NY City, but then you have to travel to NY City.
Now we were 5 mins walking from the PATH station, and within 15 mins we were standing in the middle of Manthattan. A great place to stay when you want to discover NY City with your RV.

If it were possible to give a 0 star rating, I would. The only thing this park has going for it is location. Other than that, it's nothing but a parking lot with RV's crammed in utilizing electric and water hook ups. They are dishonest, and their customer service is poor. If you have another alternative available, use it. If not use it, but buyer beware: If you leave early before the office opens and therefore don't come in person to check out, they will charge your card $40. If you downgrade your reservation to less nights then originally booked and they tell you on the phone they will give you your refund when you check in, know that they will not do so. There will be no refund. If you are hoping that the office will give you correct information regarding how and where to catch the ferry, don't count on it. Do your own research in advance, or ask another travelor. And just an FYI, the wifi they advertise is a joke. Obviously this place knows they are the only RV park available if you want easy access to NY, the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island. So they really don't care about that thing called customer service.

When we were driving through the city while enroute my initial thoughts of the surroundings was that I was making a big mistake. Once we turned off the main st to the RV park it went from a congested city to one that reminded me of Newport, RI.

We can see huge private boats mooring and leaving the harbor. The view of Ellis Island and the the back of the Statue of Liberty was awesome. It's not a pretty lot, it serves a purpose of water/electric but the views of the NYC skyline are incredible. The bathrooms were clean and the staff were accommodating.

This is not a typical camping site as it's devoid of grass and trees etc. For it's location it is quiet. If you're looking for the a typical camping experience this is not the place...if you're looking for a great value of staying in or near NYC this is definitely the place.
