- Excellent #13794
I visited this restaurant with 3 friends and we were generally satisfied. Food tasted very good (we ran for seafood choices, salmon and branzino), a waiter made sure we felt comfortable and helped us out with a choice of wine. Actually, he was fair and didn't want to use his up-selling skills, but matched our desires to the item on the menu. Excellent dining experience, I will definitely come back to this place despite the fact it's far away from my home. Cheers!

- Terrible #13791
I'm from out of town and been here twice, once two years ago and this past weekend. Both times I came for the Sunday brunch drag show, and the first time was a great experience. Crowd was having fun, entertainment having fun, food good, service good. This time, it gets a 1-star. First, the waiter Frankie could barely be bothered to ask us our order. No talking, no joking, no smile. More of "what do you want". There were five of us and the food comes --- for four. I tell the food runner I was missing my turkey sandwich, and he literally doesn't say a word to me, just listens and walks away. No "I'm sorry, I will be right back" or "sorry, let me see what's going on" -- just walks away. Waiter comes and I tell him --- he doesn't say a word but walks away. Waiter comes a second time and my friend gets a bit louder with him and he says "I'm taking care of it." About 5 minutes later he puts the meal on the table and walks away. Little while later he comes back to get dishes and doesn't say a word. We had to ask for the bill 3 times. He did take off the unlimited mimosas for me, which I appreciated. But really, being a waiter, even when you're busy, means you talk to the customers a little. "how is everyone", "how's the food", "sorry for not bringing your meal, it should be out in 5 minutes", "can I take these plates". Its like talking was a chore for the workers here.

So, if you like below average service for decent food that's priced a bit high, go to KTCHN.

- Poor #13790
To be fair, my 2-star rating is not based on the quality of the food or service, rather a terrible experience - I had a reservation for 2 for brunch on what was a very busy and time-restricted day for us. Upon arrival, we were informed that the chef had a "dramatic" night and had not yet arrived, therefore they were not serving food... What?!? The hostess was very friendly and apologetic, but admitted to having no idea where the chef was or when they'd begin food service. Unacceptable. We did return for dinner 2 nights later and had a great experience - the food is awesome - but I can't excuse the first attempt, hence the 2-star rating.

- Very Good #13793
The food was delicious and the ambiance was quiet and modern. It's rare to find and affordable restaurant in NYC with a volume level quiet enough to have regular conversation so this was a breath of fresh air. The waiter was very nice and very apologetic when he put in the wrong order. The drinks weren't great and the portions on our foccacia appetizer was a bit misleading but otherwise it was a great experience and we would definitely go back.

- Excellent #13792
I had dinner before a show and it was a fabulous meal, All three courses were outstanding and service was excellent. Seating and lighting were comfortable. We went early and it was quiet so we could have a conversation in a normal volume. I highly recommend KTCHN. We'll be back
