Krug's Tavern

While this is the definition of a "dive bar," it happens to have the best burger in NJ (as determined by Pete Genovese of the Star Ledger Munchmobile)! Big, juicy and perfectly cooked every time, you'd be hard pressed to find a better burger. Tip: Just get a bacon cheeseburger. No need for any fixins'.

No frills here. An ok beer selection. They bring you a large, sliced pickle and a couple of hot cherry peppers in a paper tray to munch on while you wait for burger heaven.

Other than that, it's just a bar. A bunch of tv, a jukebox, and the local street-hawker coming in with her bootleg dvds.

The burger was good, had it 2 days in a row. The first day I asked for the burger that they claim is the best in New Jersey and got a plain burger with cheese- meat, cheese, bread...which was ok. Having learned my lesson, the next day I ordered lettuce, tomato, onions, mayo, and mustard to make it a really great burger. Not a top 10, but a great burger.
First day was a great experience with women server, however the next day I got what allot of people are saying on here. Unresponsive staff and long wait time. 12 minutes to get my order then 32 minutes to get by burger. I saw one couple wait for about 15 minutes and no one waited on them, so they left.
I know that the menu clearly states that they have a small grill so the food takes time but a restaurant that puts that on the menu just doesn't get what it takes to get 5 stars. If you can identify an issue, rather than make an excuse, make a solution.

Tiny behind the bar seemed to be racist and couldn't even acknowledge me even after being right in front of him for ten minutes. Either he's really slow and useless or he has something against Hispanics. I've tended bar in the past and have managed several restaurants and even my slowest staff would have outrun the staff at Krug's Tavern. I saw that this place was featured in a newspaper when I sat down. I wonder if that was fixed because you can't even get service let alone rate the food. There are plenty of good dive bars around a don't waste your time on this place.

Terrible service. The burger was delicious, no issue there. I was there with a friend and we had to wait 90 minutes for 2 hamburgers. And the couple next to us waited even longer. People who came in after us being served before all 4 of us. And dont say anything to the waiter, he just blames the cook as if he has no clue what is going on. At one he point he tells us ours is next yet we still see burgers still being served to others. My friend order well done, and I order medium.....since when does a well done burger finish before a medium? Screw this place, the cook and the waiter. Never again!!

Poor service. Waited an hour for a burger, ended up leaving because I don't believe that should be the ticket time for any food item on the menu. I went in because they apparently have great burgers, but their long wait time doesn't make up for how good your burger is. When I mentioned that I've been waiting too long, they stated that my burger was just put on the grill and they were working on my meal. I shouldn't have to wait an hour to get a burger on the grill. I wish i were exaggerating about the hour wait so that I can feel better about myself waiting an hour for food, but no it's not an exaggeration unfortunately. Another thing that bothered me was the guy cooking the food had one glove on and that glove had holes in it. I'm not to crazy about gloves or no gloves, until the dude wipes the sweat off his head with his forearm. Krug I don't care how good your burger is, if you don't have the service to match it then it certainly isn't worth it. If you're hungry don't come here, if you have an hour to kill and think that you might be hungry at the end of that hour..than come here.
