Komegashi too Japanese Cuisine

Amazing Japanese restaurant with great views to Manhattan. A romantic option if you want to bring your date or have a casual dinner. The quality is really good and the service mostly friendly. A must try.

I woud say good morden Japanese food. I go there almost every week. Seafood Kaisen Don is recommended. Rolls there is good, too. Good service and you can get lady M desserts there. A little bit expensive though.

Decent Sushi quality. Unfortunately even for sushi this place is very expensive. A few other reviews stated this and I dismissed it thinking they were just cheap. Unfortunately for what is given for the price is rediculus. At first glance at the menu I thought it was right on par - until I received my first plate. $14 for maybe 1.5 Oz of salmon (Salmon Dill dish). It tasted wonderful, presentation was just ok, but was not even enough to wet my appetite. I was by myself and only had water. Out the door bill was $60.

In addition to the price, if service were better I may have overlooked it. Unfortunately the place was empty when I went in (6:30 on a Monday night it was maybe 10% full). And I saw my waitress once to order and a second time 25 min later once I placed another order with another waitress because I was tired of waiting. I was left to fend for myself and it wasn't busy. On the way out I noticed 3 waitresses just standing around chatting and not serving. I would find another place next time as the quality of fish alone wasn't worth the price.

I frequent this place as it's close and convenient. Their low-quality service has been a noticeable problem but it never really bothered me until today. A customer sitting next to us said that she was charged for a higher price than the price on the menu, and she told us to check the numbers when the bill comes. We did and the prices were indeed higher. I called the waitress. She said they are adjusting the prices and we should pay the higher. But there were neither any signs on the menu, nor verbal notice from any staff, even when we were given the bill. It seems like they just assumed no one would notice. She was apparently annoyed and impatient when I asked. She said "just don't order these anymore" and walked away with the bill.
Later she came back with an adjusted bill. I said her attitude made me uncomfortable. Then she started arguing with me, acted like she was already giving me a favor by agreeing to charge the menu price. In fact, the price difference wasn't worth an argument at all. It's the lack of transparency and rudeness that made me feel really disappointed. She said "you should not tell me how to do my job", snatched the bill and walked away again.
I've never been surprised to see restaurants raise price. Even when the menus are outdated, they would usually stick a note onto it or tell customers before taking orders. Isn't this a basic courtesy or sort of default way of handling it? But they didn't and they got mad at us discovering it. I asked the waitress whether she would just silently charge me more if I didn't point it out. She avoided my question, simply repeating that she didn't end up charging the higher prices. "What's her problem?" she said to other waitresses so loudly that I could hear it as I walked out.
I've seen people using "rude" to describe the service here. But like I said, I've come to this place so often that I almost chose to let those things slide. It's not because their food is that good, simply because it's close to where I live. After dinning at so many Japanese places in NY/NJ, I can honestly say theirs is mediocre. Now I have to say I don't recommend this place - if you are looking for good Japanese food, kind staff, and somewhere you would want to go back again.

Like other reviewers, I found the food a bit more expensive. The quality of the food is very high here and sushi is usually expensive. And they provide an amazing service. And yes, they offer an unparalleled view. But in spite of all these, I found it overpriced.
