My acupuncturist suggested I see Dr Kofinas at the Fertility Institute because her clients that were under his care were getting pregnant. I left my first RE because, after my first failed transfer, I wanted to have testing done on my uterine lining to see if there was an issue with implantation. I had sort of been diagnosed with endometriosis which had resulted in severe pelvic adhesions on my reproductive structures. But my current Dr didn’t believe in auto-immune infertility and wanted to continue transferring embryos until one stuck. I found the process so devastating I really wanted a Dr to check and see if there were any problems I didn’t know about before we moved forward.
Dr. Kofinas and Dr. Montes knew immediately what to do. I was set on a course of testing that addressed all of my concerns about my lining. When I complained about pain with my period, Dr. Kofinas took my concerns seriously and did a laprascopy to try and clean up the endo as much as possible. The surgical care was excellent and I was back on my feet in no time. I was so grateful not to have my pain dismissed.
Another great bonus at the Fertility Institute is they offer free admission to a fertility support group led by an excellent psychotherapist, Karine Feldman, who specializes in this particular life crisis. Going to the group was a wonderful adjunct to my treatment at the clinic. I found out the other attendees were paying $400 but for Dr. Kofinas’ clients, it was complementary.
I am now happy to report that my husband and I are expecting twins. Dr. Melissa Montes guided us through an emotionally trying phase of our lives with genuine compassion and down to earth realism. She was always present to our concerns in an extremely nurturing and supportive way. I can tell that Dr. Kofinas, who was overseeing our care, is extremely passionate about his work and gets upset himself when procedures fail. His passion drives him to study the latest on cutting edge research in the field and if you go to him, you know he is doing everything humanly possible to help you get pregnant.
I feel so blessed to live in an area where this level of medical care is offered. Not only were we treated with the latest in fertility innovation, but we were always treated with respect, kindness and deep compassion. Dr. Kofinas and Dr. Montes are excellent health care providers and I am forever grateful for their expertise and their compassion. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this clinic to anyone struggling with infertility, especially if you have a difficult diagnosis as I did.
