I literally feel like I'm going to get chopped up and fed to people here. I don't think there is even a wait staff here. I forget because I AM LITERALLY GOING TO DIE HERE. Dirty utensils. I think I was served coffee but it might have been diarrhea.

I got the Adirondack for brunch (trout + eggs Benedict) and it was divine. The hollandaise sauce was light and lemony, and the eggs and trout were cooked perfectly. I love the individual French roast coffee, and the prices are very reasonable. I will definitely go back!

A group of friends invited my boyfriend and I to Kevin's for Brooklyn's Dine-In week. While it's a bit out of the way in Red Hook, (unless your in the neighborhood for a shopping spree at Ikea) it's very cozy and quaint. They had an array of seafood dishes to choose from, and a few turf options for those with an unadventurous palate. My only huge complaint would be the slow service - there was only one individual in charge of seating, greeting and taking orders for 10 tables, and as a result it took us about 15 minutes to get our waters filled and wine glasses on the table. I opted for the Seafood Chowder for my first course as it was cold outside, and really enjoyed the fresh shellfish and homemade cream base. My boyfriend ordered the Lamb Bastia and I definitely stole more than my fair share. For my main course, I ordered the Flounder (great dish but a bit too salty), while my dining companions selected the salmon with a nori ball (looked amazing), and the seafood pappardelle (sooo amazing, I snuck way too many bites). The apple pie with cream was absolutely divine, and I loved the chocolate cake, but it was a bit too rich for my taste (a few bites did me right). Kevin's seems to be a neighborhood gem, and reasonably priced considering the quality. Don't forget to BYOB - their $4 corkage fee is reasonable!
