K&M Camera

I love this place. Manny has helped me out and gone above the call of duty. I buy everything I can for photography here. Love being a pro at K&M Camera.

Let me start by saying I'm a beginner in photography. I went there in search of a sh*tty Vello Timer Remote Switch. Yes I know its "garbage" as Mr. Big Mike explained. He said that they don't sell garbage. Honestly i went there for a product, not for big mikes opinion (I think that was his name) If i wanted an opinion i would have asked for it. I know what I'm looking for is garbage, it just gets the job done. Both controllers do the exact same thing, only difference is in quality. Only reason I would go here if B&H is closed not that I ever would go again, everything is overpriced.

let me start off by saying K&M is 100% more customer friendly thnn B&H ever will be... each time i've shopped at K&M i've had off the chart; impressive customer service. Micheal, one of the film department employees has truthfully done an excellent job with helping me select the right cameras. Maria (whom i saw mostly at the register) kept in close contact with me and made sure everything i needed was ready for me. (went out of their way to do alot to help out, and improve my experience at this business). Now there were several others who made this experience great but for the most part every single employee who greeted me had a smile, and made great comments which provoked great small talk (even if i meant geeking out over different camera models). i know when i come back to new york i'm going straight from the airport to K&M

I am an amature photographer and I decided to drop by and build a relationship with the staff. I brought my girlfriend and about a grand of cash to spend. They at first ignored us and were off putting with how all the staff were eating lunch out in the open and not paying attention to us. I was trying to introduce my girlfriend too manual photography and looking too purchase a new camera. I guess we (I am a person of color) and my girlfriend (she's white) didn't fit the criteria for someone who has money to spend. We had a few questions about a starter DSLR and they went straight for a mirrorless. I suggested we started out a little bit more basic and the sales man (a fat latin guy, I am latin also so relax me gente) just ignored us once this blond entered. The best part about it is, everyone who worked and was shopping noticed he did this and they (the staff) did nothing. He and several other staff went to help her and she was just buying some memory cards. She was asking if it fits her Iphone and if android phones are better for "picture taking" .Such incompetence and classlessness, this place seems to be going under and it is a shame, they actually have a very nice store front and are open more than the religious bunch who run B&H.

The only store I go to...KM Camera has always been a great resource for me as a photographer and filmmaker in the downtown area. They have gone ABOVE AND BEYOND so many times in their rental department. I consider them part of my family now, and so does my dog. They have a great friendly staff that is very knowledgeable and give me the best prices possible on their vast inventory of gear. They have always supported me and been very helpful with any questions and challenges that I have to bring my life to work.
