Great pizza joint! Probably one of the best brick-oven pizza in NYC. We had came several times but never really wanted to wait in line ( the line could get crazy on a Saturday night) ..so we decided to drop by on a weekday for lunch! Voila, no line whatsoever and we got our pizza pretty quickly.
Ordered the medium pizza, half vegetarian (roasted tomatoes + mushroom), half meat lover (sausage pepperoni).. i dont eat pork so i'm only eating the vegtarian side.
The pizza was perfection - so cheesy and the crust were thin and crunchy.. i typically dont eat the crust, but rest assured, i finished everything on my plate!
The price was pretty decent. The medium is pretty large and with all the 4 toppings we had, it didnt eve g over $30 after tax.
I love the look and ambience of this cute little joint. Very casual with great oldies music playing the entire time we were there.
Would definitely be coming back!

Really 2.5 stars. I came in with lofty expectations, and while I love the history of the place.....there was nothing about the pie that blew me away. And the service was spotty, considering I was one of about 3 customers. There's so many better spots in NYC. Choose wisely.

The guys who work here--waiters, pizza chefs, bus boys--are all fun-loving and hilarious. They kept us laughing all night and let us take a photo with the oven at the end of our excellent meal. It's also sort of comical to eat a place that is SO adamant about their "NO SLICES" policy. The interior is marked up and painted like a street art exhibit. It's a divey-type of pizza joint that puts out what it's supposed to: no frills and solid 'za.

I'm conflicted on what to rate this, as there are two opposing sides to the story:
First and foremost, great jazz. We came to see MARCEO PARKER live on Friday night thanks to some free tickets, and boy did he astound. Not sure if this has a reflection on the jazz club itself though.
The club itself is very packed. We sat in the middle of two couples, at a long table, squeezed in. Of course, we quickly forgot about this after the performer started.
The drinks and appetizers we ordered were 1 star-worthy. Pretty sure the calamari and spring rolls both came frozen and then microwaved. The drinks was fine, but not very alcoholic. We still did end up having fun though, as the performers were so great! And the club is so small that you actually get a very good view of him!
