I hired John Ellis Painting Contractor to paint my house in Queens. For the first time in the history of dealing with contractors John Ellis Painting Contractor gave me my trust again. The company is managed very well and they are very professional in the painting business. They take a good care of your business in a very kind manner and the quality of painting was excellent.

John Ellis Painting Company did a great job, painting the exterior of my home. The crew was great and Mr. Ellis was quite reasonable with his price. I was very satisfied with the job, and would recommend him to others.

This painting contractor John Ellis took a deposit from me for a job and never showed. After evading my calls and letters for months I took the matter to small claims court. I was awarded the case.

Buyers beware.

Beware this painter. I have only just seen this site so am writing now but in the year 2000 I was living in NY and called his company to come and give me an estimate for painting my dining room and lounge and small vestibule area. JE arrived wearing a Benjamin Moore outfit and hat and gave me a quotation there and then on paper. After discussions with my husband about it and asking JE more questions (him assuring me he would be at the job) we gave him a deposit of $400 for the job to be started. The following week a crew of "bridge painters" arrived from Brooklyn. Yes, that's right "bridge painters" that is what they told us. They didn't have a clue what to do in a house and needless to say JE was not with them. The men came into the house completely destroyed a bookcase by trying to move it before I could unload it. They painted my trimwork with oil based paint without stripping or sanding down anything leaving streaks everywhere and wet paint. They damaged my furniture by resting heavy paint cans on it. Within a few hours I called John Ellis and he told me he would speak to his men on the phone. These men were so intimidating and rude and loud that I asked them to leave. (They were singing and playing loud music all morning.) They would not leave and so I called John Ellis again and told him to come to the house but he would not. So I called my husband home from work who told them to leave. They stood outside my home for two hours arguing in the street with my husband about what they were doing. Finally they left leaving a horrible mess everywhere. That night they returned again to ask for their jobs back and this time they brought a girl with them who did nothing but whine through the window at us that it would be alright and they would do the job. Needless to say my husband supervised them the next day and then left again for work but then they started to intimidate me again by calling through the house that my husband was a wimp and they would do what they liked and they knew what they were doing. Well, I was so terrified I just told them all to pack up and go. I then rang John Ellis and told him what I had done. I stopped his $400 check but still he did not come by the house to see what had happened. To get rid of his morons we paid $800 in cash for their two days attending so they wouldn't come back and vandalise the house. In fact they did come back and they burglarised it! John Ellis is trash don't believe him and don't have work done by him, he will only send street people who are violent. Transpired late speaking to someone in the ACE Hardware shop on Francis Lewis Blvd that this person was a manic depressive and violent and they had seen him before and didn't want to work with him.! $800 was a lucky escape so don't be fooled by this so called painter. I wish now I had called the police on them but then I don't know what they would have done. Later my husband received a phone call from JE who was demanding to know why we had cancelled his check and again he just didn't get the fact of what his "street gang" had done and he did not come to look but if you want photos I have them of the work they did and if I had had the time I would have taken him to court!
