Fantastic dishes that really let the seafood shine prepared expertly by Chef Ichimura.

Dined here with a few girlfriends earlier this week and City Winery was great!

As we waited for our final friend to show, the hostess brought us samples of their 'famous sauvignon blanc." It was definitely delicious and we even decided to order a bottle for the table.

The food was great! We ordered the spread of the day + the cheese board to start. I had the burger while my friends had the steak, chicken, grilled cheese + soup and fish of the day. We were all pleasantly surprised with our food and continued to try different wines.

The space itself was fairly small (we sat in the Barrel room, not the concert area) however, we had plenty of space on the table. I can't stand when they crowd everyone in and try to smush.

Overall - City Winery receives 4 out of 5 stars in my book. They get docked a star for the slow service. I think sometimes they forgot about us!

Ichimura Sensei has done an outstanding job on overcoming the limit of sourcing particular ingredients. His personality and techniques will deeply impress customers who love and respect sushi culture.

But I have to mention that some waiters lack the knowledge of tea("......all the green tea just taste the same to me" .This just lmaf) and therefore might not able to bring people what they expect from the tea selection.

In addition, there is probably a chance to dine with those who behave without basic fine dinning courtesy, and it may affect others' dining experience (Sushi Bar is not a bar, after all. So please don't drink like you just reach the age of 21yesterday and then make the counter loud like a party).

I will go five starts to Ichimura San himself as a Sushi chef. But the team of the sushi bar really need to level up the rest aspects. I will still have a strong interest in dining regularly as always, even if the price might increase to some extent, as long as my visits would not lead me to sit with Dbags so often, like I have before.

Top quality sushi/sashimi omakase in NYC. This is on par with the other top 10 sushi/sashimi places in NYC.

There's no menu here, just the omakase, which is nothing short of incredible. When you make a reservation, make sure it's for Ichimura's omakase - it's different from the Brushstroke restaurant. A secluded sushi nook with only 12 seats. It has no sign on the street, and no door of its own; you enter through Bouley's Brushstroke. Between the first-rate fare, classic Bouley service and dapper Shinto-shrine decor, this Michelin-starred sanctuary earns every dollar of the weekly paycheck you’ll have to fork over. The omakase-only menu is a parade of fluke, Hokkaido ocean trout, toro, and salmon roe, all flawless in composition. This is the kind of sleeper hit that critics dream about. Almost nobody was talking about the little sushi bar inside Brushstroke where Eiji Ichimura was quietly refining the techniques
