This school was widely known as a lawless criminal breeding ground in the mid/late 80s. Has it changed?

I went to JSH285 a LONG time ago, circa 1960. The school, and wonderful teachers, did such a great job that I STILL benefit from their work so many years later. I am particularly grateful to Mrs. Gladys Newman, my home room and Spanish teacher. I STILL remember and use the Spanish that she taught me! To you young people who find the school "too strict." Strict is not a bad thing, as you will learn later on in life. As long as it is fair and evenly applied to all. What you learn NOW will affect the entire rest of your life. I know that is hard to believe and to accept. BUT, at 68 years of age, I can tell you it is true. You will not like or enjoy all subjects. That is natural. I hated history when I was at Meyer Levin and Tilden. Maybe I would have felt differently with different teachers. I don't know. BUT, I cannot get enough history NOW. What you need to do is to learn enough of what you don't like to PASS, and learn all you can of what you DO enjoy! Get the most out of what each teacher offers. Some are better than others and some should be fired. BUT, all offer something even if it the way NOT to be or NOT to do something.
