I was reading some of the other reviews and thought I would add some thoughts on my experience. I am a dog lover--somewhat new to the day care experience.

First off, I want to say that I am very pleased with this facility. I think the day care experience has helped to make my dogs more comfortable around other dogs and people. I think my dogs enjoyed their 1-2 week stay (which is a long time for them). The rates are quite good for day care and boarding. They cater to special needs like daily medications (pills and eye drops) for older dogs for a reasonable extra fee of a few dollars per day. They are good at communicating with the owners if any questions arise while boarding.

I liked that there is a process where new canine guests are vetted for proper vet medications and their behavior before being accepted into the day care environment. I recall having to bring my dogs in for a "sniff test" and then a day of day care before boarding. It was a little inconvenient, but there was no charge for the day, and I think that overall it was a good process to make sure there were no potential problems before boarding for a week.

The boarding/day care contract favors the facility in case of any dispute. You have to place your trust in them; legal recourse would likely be limited. I do trust them, but I recognize the arrangement. I have boarded my dogs with other kennels in the region, some of which include insurance for things like even minor random canine colds that dogs may pick up when in the company of other dogs. Those facilities cost more, and social doggie day care was not an option at those facilities.

5 stars to me means perfect. The only reasons I didn't give 5 stars was due to the contract/insurance issues I just mentioned, and just a little more customer-facing polish would be nice on the check-in/check-out experience so that I know my business is important to them. I give them 4+ stars, and I get the feeling that they really care about the dogs.

I would recommend Hounds on the Hudson, and I continue to use them to board my dogs.

What a sad business. Called them on Fri about having my dog joining their day camp. The owner insisted on bringing my dog on Sunday so she can assess my dog and let my dog play with her own dog, to make sure that my dog is friendly.
Come Sunday, I bring my dog, the owner is not there. A guy at the front desk says that she is on vacation. Her dog is not there either.
I warn him that my dog plays nicely OFF the leash (has been going to another day camp for more than a year) but will not be as friendly ON the leash. What does the guy do? Yes, you guessed it, he brings some random dog ON LEASH and insists that I keep mine ON THE LEASH as well. The other dog starts barking at mine from the very first second. Mine remains calm for a while but then starts barking as well. Clearly, not a good situation.
The guy keeps saying - come back another day, give us a chance. Why would I??? They can't keep the appt they insisted on and scheduled two days ago... What chance?
Pathetic business...

We found Hounds on the Hudson when we adopted our pittie fur baby Bella through Bully Project. We were very impressed with their facility when we first picked up Bella. Since then, we have used them to board Bella and our other dog Nico and we live in MA. Both Nico and Bella were extremely comfortable upon entering the facility and were welcomed right away by the staff. We were able to watch them on the video feed during their stay. We were given daily reports if we called to see how they were doing. If we lived closer, we would use them for all of our boarding, daycare, and grooming needs. We wish that their facility was closer to us instead of NJ!!

Kim and the staff are extremely personable and professional. I would not hesitate to recommend them to everyone I know.

Thanks for all of your love and care for our fur babies!

I have been bringing my dog Bauer to Hounds on the Hudson for at least 4yrs now. Bauer was just a puppy when he first went and we have been happy there ever since. I am a busy business owner, and when I can't exerciser my dog myself then I bring him to Hounds doggie daycare to have fun in the play runs. The attention and care they give the dogs makes me feel good that he is in safe hands.

When I first started him there, I would use the Pet taxi because I worked such long hours and it would save me time and the trip of dropping him off and picking him up on time. I don't need to use it as often now but, it is nice to know it's available when you want it. The hours at night used to be a challenge for me because they closed at 7pm but, they just recently changed them and are now open until 8pm during the week. This makes it so much easier for me to get there to pick him up after work. The other aspect I find quite convenient is that I can book him a bath and nail trim while he is there for the day...talk about one stop shopping!

Overall, I'm happy and lucky to have a place to take my dog Bauer that we both can enjoy. Thank you Hounds on the Hudson!
