At my host institution, I am planning to study classes that can diversify my range of study. In Germany, at Universität Trier, I study a number of media courses centered around media from a German/European perspective. Not only has this limited the geographic scope of influence in my study, its limited the intellectual scope of influence in my studies as well. At Hamline University I hope to take a range of courses focused around broadening my educational course load, and offering me an alternate perspective on what I’ve been taught at my current university. I plan on taking Media in Global Perspective, Introduction to Global Studies, Internship Seminar in Public Journalism, and completing the International Journalism Capstone Media Project. Having already worked as an au pair for a year in the US, and as a student majoring in English, I’m confident I can meld with my American and International peers, and further improve my own English skills. I hope to pursue a career at an American media firm in the future, and I think my courses and time at Hamline would position me perfectly to pursue this dream. My courses at Hamline spread across a variety of areas, from Journalism to learning about the ecosystem of the Global Media Market. This variety promises to offer me a diverse education, further broadening my own knowledge, and preparing me well for this increasingly competitive global media market.
