A nice large brewpub on the main street of South Orange with a nice beer menu of brews that were brewed on premises and a huge food menu. The bar is pretty big and there is a surprising amount of seating in the back. The beer is all made in the restaurant. The list is a traditional range from pale ale and pilsner to stouts. The Belgian style ale was tasty, with a strong clove flavor exemplifying the style well. It could have been served a bit colder though. The food menu is pretty huge and varied, including several sandwiches, burgers, and some random tex-mex. The burgers even have options like bison and antelope. I took the middle route and tried the bison burger which was deliciously tender and had a great balance of fat and lean. The service was a bit slow, but did check up pretty frequently. Great place for some good beer and strong pub food in South Orange.

Best bar food in new jersey. excellent service, at least at the bar. the beer cheese soup is beyond delicious. would go again.
Update: I'm not sure why there are negative reviews for this place. The staff is super friendly and they're always accommodating. The food is consistent (consistently amazing)/and most of their in-house beers are delicious.

I requested a simple alteration to my order due to dietary restrictions and was promptly refused.
The service was almost nonexistent, and the management maintains an archaic dress code for all of its customers.
I was not surprised to see all of these other terrible reviews for this place after having experienced it myself.

Shocked by all the negative reviews. I've been coming to Gas Light since I was a small child. It's a family favorite of ours and we've become close to the owners and a lot of the wait staff. Yes the food is on the pricey side but they give such large portions and the food always tastes delicious. We always order the mussels in white wine sauce. Yum! The crusty Italian bread is perfection. Great beer selection and friendly staff.
