Gargiulo's

Whenever I am in NYC I make the pilgrimage to Coney Island and a meal at Gargiulo's. The atmosphere is strictly old-school and elegant and the food is just like what my Italian grandmother would make, if I had an Italian grandmother.

Gargiulo's has been a long time family favorite and so when the time came for my wedding, there was no other place we could have even considered. Nino and all the staff far exceeded our expectations. The food was (as expected) to die for and our family and friends had an incredible time.. Including many who came from Italy! Nino and all his staff are wonderful. A true New York institution.

What a beautiful resturant, great to see the history! Dino took great care of us food is authentic and great service is top notch. I would come back to NY just to eat again.

We came here for a party and sat in the room upstairs. The food was very good. Their potato puffs are phenomenal. It is very clean and the wait staff are very nice.

I attended a private luncheon here in their banquet space on a Sunday afternoon. I immediately let the server know that I had dietary restrictions but was told no modifications could me made as the menu was set. Imagine my disappointment after paying $75 and not being able to eat. Everyone else seemed to enjoy the food but as someone who hosts events, I was disappointed in a few areas: sound system/microphone feedback was awful, servers were a bit clumsy (I was hit in the head and elbow a few times with dishes/silverware) and bottles of soda were placed on the table in lieu of carafes.

They do offer free parking (and valet for this particular event) which was a plus, restrooms were clean and the banquet space was otherwise lovely and well-maintained.

I've heard great things about Gargiuilo's so I'll definitely try the main restaurant once my dietary restrictions allow me to do so.
