Ft Tryon Jewish Center

This is a very friendly, progressive, traditional egalitarian congregation in Washington Heights. Services are very musical and participatory, but also very traditional. They are mostly lay-led. The congregation is extremely diverse in age, dress, etc. Most people have a high level of engagement in the davening. Saturday services are followed by an amazing kiddush! The building is currently (summer 2011) being renovated and services are held at a nearby synagogue or elsewhere in the neighborhood.
