Excellence Boys Charter School of Bedford Stuyvesant

The school has changed drastically from once Sawicki was in charge. Academically they get a 3 1/2 because they have limited resources for children who may need additional help, their policies however are driven by intimidation and they result in military tactics which have been overwhelming for some kids and impede them on becoming expressive well rounded men. I have witness children breakdown. I often find myself intervening. They give the kids lunches with ice on it and although teachers witness this it has been a practice for kids to consume COLD lunches that are not fully defrost. I have been in an on going debate with the school to have a parent association to get feedback on how the school can become better servicing to the community which is not welcomed. Some of the teachers act worst than some children calling home for little things and dean send outs for nonsense. They do sweat the small stuff so please don't take those silly color changes to heart. They expect the kids to sit in star all day and they often refuse to let them go to the bathroom when asked. My child has had accidents because of this practice. They have alot of half days which is inconvenient for parents who work and get out early June 17th. When most summer programs early July. My little bro goes there now and I love it. They are orgnaize and they let you know everything that is going on.
