I would not even give them one star but thats not an option.Go there 3 or 4 times and get nothing done. It's a waste of time. They need a better system of working and the employees are rude and don't care about their customers. If you are only there for insurance, you shouldn't have to wait for hours and then have to come back because they can't see you. They should send the paperwork for insurance at home and you just drop off the documents and get reinstated. By doing it this way it will cause less angry people complaining about service. This takes time away from people who are working. Not every job let's you take off to deal with something that can be resolved in minutes. I understand if you have other things in the welfare office but if you are only there for one thing, you shouldn't wait for hours just to get a "sorry can't help you today come back another day" respond. I only need health insurance that's it. Then they say it's not a waste of time if you are receiving the benefits.

worst system 2 called customer or people going because we needed help take not minutes hours to called the next one taken so many breaks speaking front any one like they don't care because the working getting money 4 the government if not people not worked better system...

Never notify you when your kids health insurance expires. You go with all your documents and wait for hours so they can tell you it will be back on in two weeks. Your kid get sick, you take them to doctor so the nurse can tell you your kid still doesn't have insurance after a month that you went to get this fix. Go back and wait hours on a line that doesn't move. These people are rude and do not care about the people that really need assistance. Especially the ones that need to take off from work to come down there and get Things done. All for nothing! They do not value your time at all!

Rude employees they do not value your time at all .....require so much paperwork to lose it every time....Someone really needs to come up with a better system for assisting with peoples lives.....I HATE to go there

I represent a landlord that was promised in writing by the Essex County Citizen Services Department Section 8 rents starting in May. They didn't get payment till November. It's been 3 years. We've called them numerous times and even gone there in person.

No one knows what's going on. They'll assign you to someone that you call - that person will say that he can't find the records.

All of the messages on the voice mail say they'll call you back in a day - that never happens.

I've been told if you're a landlord and you get a judgment against Essex County - you still might not be able to collect.

Landlords beware of Section 8 Rent payment promises from this Department.
