ESP Parking

ESP Parking is an excellent choice for those looking for a place to park near Kings County/Downstate Hospital. The parking lot is clean, safe, and available to access 24 hours. The owner is friendly and receptive to feedback. There are a reasonable set of rules that everyone must follow, and this helps the lot run smoothly and efficiently. Just follow the rules and you will have a great experience. At the time of this review, I have been parking for approximately six months and plan to stay for the foreseeable future.

DO NOT PARK HERE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A SUNY DOWNSTATE STUDENT! I got kicked out of the lot today because I had a friend in the car who was not the "primary driver." If you are a student, you need a reliable spot and no added stress, go somewhere else.
Just get the $30/ month parking through the school.

ESP costs $175 per month, which is ridiculous enough. The owner, Barbara, is absolutely vile and disrespectful. She will seem nice at first, but a few months in you start to get emails if you park too close to the line, or too far back (it doesn't matter if you are actually in the spot itself). If something comes up with your car for any reason, you can not bring another car into the lot, so you are out of luck for parking if your car is in the shop.

Also, you can not take out your phone in the parking lot, or she will come chase you down.

Today, I was going to a restaurant with some friends, and I was driving them, so they entered the lot to come to my car. Barbara came out and yelled at all of us for ten minutes non-stop because we are apparently not allowed to have friends on the lot, only the "primary driver."

Later, my car began to overheat, since it was 96 degrees out today, and I needed to quickly pull into a shady spot for two minutes. I was already extremely stressed from my car overheating, and Barbara came running out to my car to ask why I wasn't parked in my spot. I tried to explain that my spot is in the hot sun, and I only needed two minutes in the empty spot to cool down my car, but she kept interrupting me and wouldn't let me explain. She then saw that my friend was still in my car, and said that it was the last straw. She took back my clicker and permit, and said that I am not allowed to park there anymore. She threatened to call the police if we didn't leave. (Mind you, we weren't exactly fighting back. The three of us in the car are very calm, non-argumentative people and were just trying to explain the situation.)

Students, it's not worth the stress. School is going to be tough enough, don't put up with this b.s., especially when you are paying that much.

UPDATE: She called me on my cell phone an hour after I wrote this review to harass me about the review. If she calls me again I'm getting the police involved for harassment.

I've parked with ESP for more than two years now and have truly enjoyed my experience. The owner, Barbara, is very attentive and ensures the parking lot is clean, functional, and safe at all times. I have never had any problems parking, which makes my morning commute much simpler.

I have been parking at ESP for two months. It is convenient, safe, and secure, and the lot is great. The owner Barbara has always been nice to me and emails me to see if she can do anything to make my experience better. The price is competitive and doesn't increase. Street parking is annoying to find alternate sides on certain days (or just to find a spot at all), cars park bumper-to-bumper and box you in, and your car is vulnerable to getting broken into. ESP is safe, and I would recommend it to anyone. It is especially convenient for Downstate/Kings County students and employees.

Great parking lot. It is well taken care of with quick clean up during the snow season. Very close to both hospitals at a decent price. Having your own personal spot definitely seals the deal, it beats going round and round hoping there is an opening.
