Dyker Beach Park

Place has its issues. Lots of trash near the entrances and i have seen joggers and truck drivers relieve themselves near the stone wall just north of 13th ave portion of park.

A great park for all kinds of ball players but a group of kite flying regulars ruins it all for everyone. Not only they left piles of garbage in the middle of fields (food containers, drink bottles, etc.), worst of all, they left loose kite lines all over the park! On the ground, over the fence, or hanging from the trees. These are thick strong nylon lines that cut like razor when pulled tense. I saw once people trying to rescue a poor goose with wings tangled in the lines hanging from the fence. The most horrible thing I heard is yesterday a young man got 7 stitches on his fingers trying to save his small dog whose feet got trapped in a loose kite line that was picked up in the wheels of a car that is driving off with it! Shame on those people! Stop those kite flyers in our parks!

Great park. Friendly people. Never saw any altercations or fights nor danger.
Ironically, cops tend to be a little hostile & ruin the atmosphere some evenings when they conduct their usual surprise ambush "attacks" (raids).

I was here on Sat morning umpiring a game my first reaction was wow nice big park but my biggest issue was the garbage all over the park and I mean everywhere.

Nice park. Though it can get a bit fishy in the evening........
