Disaster. Dont go especially for pediatrics. Was sent to Dr. Mohrmann by CityMD after my 2yr old injured his arm. The Dr. made his treatment decision WITHOUT ENTERING THE EXAM ROOM -- AND IT WAS WRONG.
Had I trusted him it may have lead to long term or permanent damage to my son's arm. Luckily, I felt bad enough about the experience that I took my son for a 2nd opinion the next day at a respected Dr. and got the correct diagnosis and treatment.

My experience with Dr. Mohrmann was the worst I have ever had in a doctor's office. I am suffering from De Quervain's tenosynovitis as diagnosed by my GP, a condition that describes the thickening of the sheath that surrounds two tendons that control movement of the thumb. It's a common problem, but that doesn't mean that you can treat the patient like a hypothetical from a test question, which is exactly what Dr. Mohrmann and his very rude PA did.
The PA didn't even let me get 30 seconds into my injury history before interrupting me and grabbing my wrist to perform a mobility test that she did not explain. She told me I had De Quervain's and told me that the treatment was a steroid injection. I have done a fair bit of research on my condition since I was first diagnosed, and have read specifically that these injections can be a bit of a mixed bag. From what I had read, they do reduce the inflammation and can be very effective, but can also cause damage to the tissue and do not always provide a long term solution. Upon expressing my concerns to the PA, she rolled her eyes and said, "If you don't want the shot, than why did you come here? Just for a diagnosis? What a waist of time." I was floored! I expressed that I was simply hesitant to go ahead with the injection and would like to understand all of my options, and then select the best one. Her response was, "Look, if you don't want the injection that's totally fine." I was then taken to get X-rays and an ultrasound, which I thought was odd because most of what I had read online said that image tests are rarely needed to diagnosis De Quervain's Syndrom (I double checked and most sources say that these imaging tools are rarely needed). And also, she was telling me about the treatment for my condition before she even ordered any of the imaging (milking the insurance company?). After the ultrasound I was left in the examination room for about 5 min when one of the receptionists came in with a prescription to get a custom made splint for my wrist. She said I was all set and that I should go make an appointment with the Dr. that shares the office space with Dr. Morhmann's group to get the splint made. Apparently that was it. If they had had it their way I would have left without seeing my X-rays or Dr. Mohrmann for that matter.
I had to ask to meet with him. I've never had to actively seek out the doctor that I had made an appointment to see before. I didn't expect much of his time, maybe 5 mins to talk about the injury, the course of treatment, and get some of my concerns addressed. But no, he was gonna shuttle me out of there without talking to me.
I got the receptionist to let me talk to him, but he held our conversation in the HALLWAY (so clearly there was no confidentiality). He showed me my X-rays for all of 2 seconds, and said everything looked fine and that he really thought I should get the splint. I said, "I was hoping we could talk in more detail about the injection since you and your team suggested that first." If the PA being so crass was enough to floor me, this response gave me a figurative black eye, "We're past that point now. You said you didn't want the shot, so we're not gonna do it today. Get the brace and come back in a month." Even if I had said outright that I did not want the shot, which I definitely didn't, why while still in the doctor's office would I not be allowed to change my mind!? All I wanted was for someone to explain why the injection would be the way to go over other options, but instead I got, nope, you can't have the shot because you would be throwing off the money mill. You missed your chance. Come back another time.
Look, I'm sure from a purely technical perspective Dr. Mohrmann is a fine physician. I'm sure he knows what he is talking about, but if you want your doctor to care more about you as a person with feelings and a life to get back to than he does the gum on the bottom of his shoe than go to anyone else. There are lots of good orthos in this city, and, I promise, all of them have better bedside manner than Dr. Mohrmann.

Beware - Empire State Orthopedics does not care about your time.
Arrived today for a follow up appointment which had mysteriously been cancelled with no notice. I was told by their hapless receptionist that I was called and a voice mail left on my phone indicating that the Dr would be unavailable. This call did not happen. I confirmed they had the correct contact information for me but I was never contacted.
I find it highly disturbing that their staff are falsely updating their scheduling system with calls that didn't happen when the result is someone showing up to the office for nothing. I found this wasting of my time highly offensive and I will never be going back to this office.
And neither should you.

I saw Dr. Mohrmann for an arm/elbow injury. I brought with me the written MRI reports he requested, told him of past medical issues and adverse reactions to cortisone injections. Without requesting or asking for a CD of the MRI, he had his tech give me an injection of cortisone and lidocaine, saying "this will be different". The injection raised my BP by 50 points and caused severe reactions. Since he never requested or viewed the MRI CD, the injection was given in an inappropriate location. My own internist had serious concerns about the treatment and the effect on my BP. My internist closely monitored the situation and told me to have my BP checked again when I returned to Dr. Mohrmann 2 weeks after the initial injection. When I went for the follow-up, I was speechless when they told me they had NO BP MONITORING DEVICES... in a multi-doctor facility. Even worse, he had nothing to say about the reaction I had to the injection, except: "So shall we set you up for the next shot?". Shocking, to say the least. How he manages to not have any medical equipment or even show concern about the side effects of his treatments, yet continues to run a successful practice, is amazing to me. Patients need to start seeing themselves as CUSTOMERS rather than helpless, wounded people at the mercy of medical professionals. If you were ever treated this way in any other business environment, would you choose to return?
