I love doctor hinz. You dont find doctors like him. Hes irreplaceable. He still does house visits to his patients who are home bound that says alot.

- Very Good #41447
I will start this by stating that I love Doctor Hinz and have seen him for over 4 years. He is a stand-up guy who is intelligent, articulate, and kind. He is an excellent physician and I have nothing but the best to say about the quality of the care he provides. His staff has always been pleasant, although they do sometimes get stressed but after just one walk-in it is pretty easy to see why: Dr. Hinz office is always packed.... always.

If you are the type of person that only sees your doctor on appointment for check-ups and such, I would unreservedly recommend Doctor Hinz. He is a fantastic doctor who is extremely professional and personable. His bedside manner is superlative as well. If you have problems drawing blood for example, he is both patient with you and extremely good at quickly and painlessly(ish) drawing blood. Also, both my partner and I have seen him for over 4 years and it has never been an issue. He knows that we are together and has been very comfortable discussing GLBT related health issues with us. His medical students/assistants prescreen and get history before he arrives and it has always been a pleasant experience with them as well. If you have an appointment you are generally in and out within the hour.

However, if you wake up sick and have to go see the doctor as a walk-in, expect wait times that you'd expect at the ER. Ok... it may not be THAT bad but I'm accustomed to at least 4 hour waits when sick. His office is tiny too, so it is often overcrowded and you may have to stand for awhile. I honestly feel like I'm betraying him by writing this but until he either expands his practice by getting a bigger place or somehow manages to cut down wait times, I couldnt recommend becoming a new patient of his if I'd expect to have to do lots of walk-ins.

I've thought of finding a new Primary Care Physician becuase unfortunately, I get sick often enough that I end up having to do walk-ins several times a year for strep throat or something, but Dr. Hinz really is a great guy and so I've decided to wait it out. I'm hoping that maybe he'll institute some type of appointment structure so that you can call in for a same-day appointment range so you can show up like an hour or so before they think he can realistically see you instead of 4+ hours before. Or maybe he'd sign up for the notification service that texts you when you are close to being called so that if you live in the neighborhood you can just stay home until its time to see him. Hell, I've even thought of trying to hook him up with a business partner so that he could get a larger office at the very least. In any event, the title sums it up: Fantastic Doctor/ Terrible Walk-In experience.
