Good dentist. Shady dealings.
I came to them trying to find a dentist in our new area.
I gave them our insurance info and they insisted they took it. After making sure with the receptionist that they indeed worked with our insurance, I made appointments for my bf and myself.
When it came time for my bf to pay after his appointment, they insisted that our insurance was wonky and we had to pay in full and they would put in a claim for us to our insurance to help us get our money back. It was weird. It was confusing, and the receptionist really didn't answer our questions. All she really said was all dental insurance was terrible like this.
When I had my teeth cleaned a month later I asked again about just how the process worked because it was confusing. They insisted all insurances worked by us paying them upfront and them filing a claim for us. But I couldn't get her to tell me specifically how it worked.
I've had other insurance and it's never been like that, but I trusted them.
We contacted our insurance about the claims.... turns out, they don't work with our insurance there. Even though I asked over six times to verify and the insisted they did.
They KNEW our info. They KNEW we weren't going to get any money back in our claim because they KNEW that they didn't work with our company or our plan. They contacted our insurance before we ever came in to our appointment. They could have AT ANY TIME, chosen to be honest with us and not try to make a quick buck off of poor people.
What's more, they told us they were going to put in a claim to help us get the money we paid them back from our insurance, but in the claim they made to our company, they are charging us almost $750 MORE per person than we have already paid. We were each in there for LESS than an hour, and we both paid $170 each for a standard teeth cleaning upfront. They essentially are charging over $900 for a 45 minute standard teeth cleaning, or almost $2000 between the two of us for 90 minutes of dental work (including the time it took to fill out our medical histories)
Back at my appointment when I explained that I couldn't afford all the dental work they were suggesting after my cleaning, they tried to get me to open a medical credit card to pay for their dentist services. I didn't. Thank god. It makes sense now that she knew I wouldn't be able to use my insurance there and they could stand to make another couple thousand off of my bf's cavities and what they were planning to charge me for a cavity filling and a dental guard. (they charge $500 per cavity)
We have insurance that we pay for. We shouldn't have to pay for a cleaning out of pocket. And in no way should ANY ONE with insurance be paying $500 for a cavity. I trusted them when they told me they took our insurance.

The cleaning was great. But this shadiness is Just. Too. Much.
it's borderline fraud.
