Reviews to Dig
We needed a plant repotted and Dig was near our home. I called to ask if they did repotting and talked to a woman who was very kind and helpful. My son in law took the plant over and they repotted it while he waited! I didn't expect that and we did not buy the pot from them but took one that we had already purchased somewhere else! That's customer service, and generosity! Will return to this shop and spread the word about their great service!
Thanks so much

Dig's selection of plants is wonderful. The owner, Chuck, seems enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I loved just about everything in this store - from the pots to the gardens gnomes. There were so many things I could have bought. I thought the prices were fair. I recommend it highly.

I absolutely adore this store. Every time I "stop by", I end up spending at least an hour there, walking out full handed. Really friendly and knowledgeable staff+manager!

BEWARE OF PRICE GOUGING!
My Sat. last weekend started off with a wonderful visit to Dig. The shop is lovely, and the staff is super friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. I happily left with a freshly potted aloe plant (I purchased a new pot at the store for an aloe plant I already owned--I brought it in and the staff re-potted it for me), a charming little money tree (also newly potted), and a 2-1/2-foot-tall snake plant. I also left armed with all the knowledge I needed to keep these plants alive.
I could not have been happier or more impressed by the shop until a few hours later when I happened to pop into a Home Depot in Manhattan. Low and behold, I spotted a snake plant that was identical to the plant that I had just bought at Dig, although it even taller and more robust than my plant.
The price at Home Depot: $12. The price at Dig: $60.
I have lived in New York for nine years. I am aware that prices can vary wildly, especially at a local business vs. a chain. I also don't think twice if things seem expensive--that's just the cost of living in this city. So when I was told the price of the snake plant at Dig, I didn't blink. I figured it might be a bit steep, but I was paying for convenience (I live in the neighborhood), the exceptional customer service, and to support a local business, which I will most always opt to do over a large chain. I also wouldn't doubt a claim that the plant I purchased at Dig is healthier than the one at Home Depot. However, I was shocked at just how dramatic the price difference turned out to be (even though the plant at Home Depot seemed to be in fantastic condition). Even if I had paid for a $15-$20 cab ride home from Home Depot, it still would've been much cheaper.
Upon my discovery I immediately called Dig. I politely explained my disappointment and that I felt I had way overpaid. I told her that I would like to keep the rest of my purchases, but return the snake plant. The woman who answered the phone was also polite, but she explained that they do not have a return policy (I did not see anything to this effect posted in the store), and she could not offer me a refund, only an exchange (despite the fact that I had just purchased the plant a few hours earlier, and I live a few blocks from the store). I told her that was not satisfactory (honestly, I'm wary of buying anything else there for fear of drastically overpaying), so she said that the only other thing I can do is speak to the owners when they are back in the store.
I spoke with the owner today, and she (in a courteous yet sarcastic tone that was completely unsympathetic and bordering on pretentious) told me that their policy is to offer store credit, but no refunds. Despite the fact that a return/exchange policy is not posted anywhere in the store (she even admitted that they need to post one). I am not opting to receive a store credit because I do not wish to purchase anything else from this store. The only saving grace of this store was the customer service I had previously raved about--so much for that. I will not be back.
