Good place for groups, especially in the summer; good beer selection

Great pretzels, great beer selection, great sausage. On Sundays this place turns into a bit of a daycare with the Ft. Green parents unable to find sitters for their kids and bring them in with them. That has to stop. But aside from that this place is a great friendly spot for a good drink and a hanging out with a group of friends.

This place is one of our two neighborhood German beer halls (Black Forest Brooklyn being the other). We also go to Die Koelner Bierhalle in Park Slope. DSK is not as pretty inside as Black Forest Brooklyn and not as big and open as DKB but is situated nicely in between. It has a very simple decor but offers outdoor seating, something the other two places don't. The beers are good, of course. Plenty of options. We can never limit ourselves to one pretzel; we usually end up having two or three. The service has always been very friendly. DSK usually has a pretty full house.

If you are looking for a great German pub, you won't go wrong with Die Stammkniepe! Friendly service and a GREAT selection of German beers. The pretzels are amazing and go great with the spicy German mustard. The curry wurst is also delicious. This place does not take credit cards, so bring lots of cash with you - you won't be able to stop after just one beer (or pretzel)!

Food:
- pickles - small paper condiment container stuffed with tiny, but tasty pickles; a bit over-priced for the amount you get though
- bretzel - warm and soft pretzel, quite good; got the regular one, but I saw that the giant one is pretty giant
- sausage mixed with cheese - very juicy and tasty, about 6 inches on a roll.

Service:
- We sat outside since it was a nice day. The service was a bit slow though (this was a Thusday night)
- No outside food
