Sheena and Shaun are the real deal when it comes to the diamond business. They have a deep knowledge of diamonds, comparable to Blue Nile in price, diamond selection and quality, but with the added bonus of outstanding customer service!! Highly recommend.
Here's more background if you have time to read the rest of my review -- My fiance and I were looking for rings for the last couple of months and decided this past weekend to finally take the plunge. After looking at diamond jewelers online and in the area, we decided to purchase the ring at Blue Nile. Along with our budget, we knew exactly the 4C's for the engagement ring. We were just unsure of my ring size. Since BlueNile is an online jeweler, they suggested we identify the exact ring size to avoid the back and forth headaches of mailing the ring back for resizing. As a result, we went to the Newport mall to figure out my ring size......We first went to Zales. Talk about terrible customer service!! Although the sales person apologized, we still waited 25 minutes and watched while other shoppers who came after us received attention before us even though we asked for help multiple times. Once the sales person started showing us rings, her lack of diamond knowledge was evident! Even when I asked about their cushion cut diamonds selection, her response was--there's no such thing as such a diamond. Although they sized my ring finger, her suggestion was way off from a previous jeweler. Frustrated with the experience, we were on our way out but decided to try one more place.
Thanks to our friend Googlemap, we came across Diamond Hut. Neither of us were familiar with the store or the previous reviews.
We went into Diamond Hut with ZERO expectation, let alone purchasing a ring especially after our experience at Zales. The customer service at Diamond Hut blew us away. The minute we came in, we were greeted and asked if we needed help. After we expressed our interest, we were seated right away with Sheena. She was incredible! Sheena took the time to listen to our needs, budget, and patiently answered all of our questions. I didn't give her too many details at first, but she quickly figured out what I was looking for and selected the exact type of ring we were looking for. She also provided helpful suggestions we had not considered for the setting and type of metal for the ring. Surprisingly for being at a mall, the pricing, and 4 C's were comparable to BlueNile. However as Sheena quickly pointed out, BlueNile doesn't offer the in-person customer service, cleaning, upkeep, and ring resizing options available at Diamond Hut. Her husband, Shaun also provided additional insights and diamond education.
After spending a significant amount of time at Diamond Hut, we purchased my beautiful halo cushion engagement!
