Great food, great service, and always a great crowd. The selection of food is your regular Japanese menu, but this grub is done right. The Katsu cutlet with curry and rice is absolutely perfect! Great place to go to eat!

We went there with kids after watching a show at Lincoln Center. The service was ok. We had to ask several times for extra plates and the place was half-filled at the time. Sashimi was good and cooked chicken with rice was so so. Kids loved udon.

Cozy, well priced sushi joint right off one of the busiest streets of New York. Service is a bit slow but it's probably because the chef has to make pretty much everything on his own. Gets packed at lunchtime

We ate sushi twice at Dan during a trip to NY last week. Is the sushi illustrative of the flawless presentation one would find at higher priced sushi restaurants? No, but the bill doesn't arrive with a $200 total for two people either. What we had was fresh, flavorful & moist & the servers were very good. They even have an ume shiso roll (not often available) that was quite good. Ume is pickled plum & shiso is a leaf, a bit like cilantro. In general we eat a fair amount of sushi & were not disappointed here. And, they even deliver! If you're looking for a small, unpretentious neighborhood sushi place Dan is it.

Go here all the time. Good food. Nice atmosphere. Beef yakisoba is very good.
