The first night was horrible when we checked into our room. The room smelled weird, it's like it has been empty for sometime. We were very tired afterr a long distance drive and I really needed a good shower. The shower room light was very dim, there's no shower tub, the tiles on the floor was old and ugly, the drainer on the ground of the shower was rusty, the metal tissue box holder was rusty. The hairdryer wasn't working. This shower room really need renovation before it could be rented out to keep up with comfort suites reputation. The free movie channel wasn't working and the heater gave out air that smelled weird. I decided to change room and the customer service told me he would change for me the next day as we'll be staying for 6 nights. when we wanted to change room the next day with different customer service, he was rude telling us that was the handicap room we reserved and we'll be moved to another handicap room although none of us is handicap. We insisted we wanted a shower tub and he tried to give us a hard time asking us to produce our reservation paper and questioned us. After some arguments and raising blood pressure, he submitted to our request of giving us a better room. The room given was comfortable, it's so different I can't imagine why the first room still existed in comfort suites. Without the experience on the first night I could have rated higher. Breakfast is good, shuttle bus is ok.

I had amazing experience during our Christmas vacation. We're from NY but live in FL. The room was amazing, huge and spacious, clean, and they included a crib for my 2 year old son we ordered the 2 bedroom suite. Staff was great, good free breakfast, great location to travel to New York. They offer shuttle service to the city for a small fee if you decide not to take the cab and train route.

Hello,
.
I'm staying at a Comfort Suites hotel in North Bergen, NJ on 1200 Tonnelle Ave. I check ed out at10am and had to fight back tears. Let me start with check in. I presented my organization credit card authorization form. I gave it to the desk clerk who said she needed to resubmit our credit card(even though our director of operations got the card authorized days earlier and hotel cards are not charged until the end of the stay). 10 seconds later, she said the organization card was declined. I asked to review the form and found that she had a form that belonged to someone else. When I brought this to her attention, she didn't apologize, instead she asked me why I gave her this form. I had no idea who was listed on that form and knew I never had that form in my possession. And again, our card was authorized and the money was cleared. We check in and everything is fine until morning. One of my teens, all here for a youth leadership conference in Manhattan, went downstairs for breakfast. She was joined by two more of her peers a short time later. She and her peers were questioned by two staff members who needed to verify that they were guests of the hotel. By the time they finished questioning them, one of the teens was so upset, she decided not to eat. What added to their insult was the group of white teens who drew no attention from staff and were not questioned. They came back to the room and told me about the incident but, when I went downstairs, I could not find the staff person(s) and I saw no on at the front desk.
After returning to the hotel at 1145pm last night, while walking towards the elevator, a front desk staff person questioned all of us about our group and asked if we were actually guests of the hotel. I responded explaining that we had been here since Friday afternoon. I took the teens to the room and returned to the front desk to ask why my party continues to get questioned about out status as guests. He proceeded to give an extremely weak excuse saying Comfort Suites age cut off for children is 12. He also said he felt it was a fire hazard having all of us in one room (even though the room advertises that it sleeps up to 8 people). He went on to explain how NY law prohibits that many people in one room and if he were at the desk at check in, he would have said something. I explained how we booked on Expedia and Comfort Suites has an child age drop box that goes up age 17 AND the room was advertised as a suite for up to 8 people. He stuttered saying he would need to look into this and gave a very weak apology. This morning, again, my teens were questioned by a staff person as to weather or not they were guests and how many people were in our room. But, this eager beaver decided she was going to follow behind the girls in that small dining area. It was extremely obvious and the girls report being given nasty stares by this elderly woman who attended to the breakfast area. I went down to complain immediately. The desk staff person coolly say, " oh, well I'm sorry this happened and I will pass this on to my manager".
Basically, it's clear we were treated unfairly because we are black! I am careful not to make this claim too quickly because it's important to examine all factors that contribute to an incident but, in this case, I can say with certainty, this had everything to do with race. I leave this hotel this morning with an extremely bad taste in my mouth. I am hurt, humiliated, and feel staying here was a huge mistake. My rating: 1 star...F for failure.

As someone who works for a hotel, when I check into another hotel I always find it interesting to see the differences and see how they perform. I was very pleased with my stay here. Staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is decorated well and kept in good repair from what I can see. They have a business center that is very user friendly.
Our room was great, the bed had two different kinds of pillows(firm/soft) and the sheets were pristine. They had a helpful book in the room of addresses/phone numbers you might need instead of having to sift through a phonebook, an alarm clock, coffee pot and microwave and mini fridge. All worked wonderfully. We also had a small couch in our room and a desk and chair. The room didn't feel cramped at all, and the bathroom was bigger than I expected. The shower worked well and had an adjustable shower head to change water pressure. The rooms had Shampoo/Conditioner/Lotion/Face soap/ and Hand soap and Staff changed these every time we got room service as well as any towels we had used. They also provided an ample amount of towels. It felt very well-stocked and we didn't have to ask the front desk for extras of anything which was great! The breakfast is quite amazing, offering different kinds of bread products, pastries, oatmeal, two kinds of waffles, eggs(scrambled and boiled), Sausage or bacon, yogurt, juices and coffee and they had a T.V. running the news in the morning over breakfast.
Overall, I will definitely stay here again, recommend the place to others, and hopefully bring the same attitude and some ideas back to the hotel I work in, because they were exceptional!
Thank You for a Great Stay!
