Civil Service Book Shop

Book store would have gotten 5 stars because my book hasn't been in stock for the last week I was told Monday & then told Tuesday . I liked the fact they updated me when the delivery would come & also they held a book for me being that there was one more in stock same day that the delivery came in ... However I spoke to them twice today . Once to double check if my book was in stock & second time to see if I can order book online or if I must come in person .. I spoke to a gentleman he told me they will close at 5pm ( mind you the sign and online says it's supposed to close 5:30 ) and I can get book in person . So I said " okay I am on my way will be there before 5 " . So I did as I said and reached to the store a quarter to only to find a sign saying sorry & that they had to leave early . YOU JUST DON'T DO THAT TO PEOPLE ESPECIALLY BECAUSE YOU ARE THE ONLY LOCATION THAT SELLS THE BOOKS WE NEED TO STUDY FOR THE CIVIL SERVICE TESTS ... AND IT'S INCONSIDERATE & NOT RIGHT ! Bad enough it's a fight to get the books when they are in stock . Best bet is to try and catch the store when they first open & to call before wasting your time coming ! SMH

....well, let me put it to you like this, back in the day 1970s, it was there for me then, now it's 2015 and it still there, I need to pick up a book for my step-son he's 44....looked over the map for NY,NY, and their spot is the only one that's there. hello?!!.

The owner allows for anyone to come in and examine all books as well as gives back her understanding and knowledge pertaining to each item and their respective exams. Rather easy to find coming from the A,C,E train line. Try not to feel ignored as the owner is often forced to multi-task between all customers and an ever constant phone line. Quite reasonable pricing.

This was the same place I picked up the book to study for the Sanitation exam (which I still havent gotten my results, since Jan). Nonetheless, a great store for all civil service exams for preparation.

Very helpful. The owner gave me referrals and was very thorough on the telephone with me. I have dealt with them several times over the years and they have always had excellent materials.
