They let us check in early! A good all you can eat breakfast to wake up to in the morning, so didn't have to worry about kids being hungry till the afternoon. Free ride to and from the subway. Free Parking is a big plus too! We felt safe here and very welcome by the employees :) Deff would come back...

Disappointed with the RUDE receptionist. Lied about their shuttle service to & from the subway (which BTW is quite a trek without using a cab). It's supposed to be SMOKE FREE, but the stench of cigarettes & marijuana fill the entire building. It's not as clean as it appears in the photos... Very misleading overall & I wouldn't stay here again.

They gave us a two bed room, when we reserved a room with a king bed. The person working the lobby then gave us a room with a king bed, but smelled of smoke. Almost empty roll of toilet paper. The toilet did not flush unless you held the handle. We didn't get the TP we asked for in a reasonable amount of time. We had to wait about an hour for the extra toilet paper. You could only use one electrical device at a time. Two port outlet for a mini fridge, microwave, and TV. At least provide a power strip. Streak marks on the bathroom mirror and TV screen. The furniture was dusty.

A group of friends and I have decided last minute to drive to NYC for the long weekend and we were searching for a cheap hotel where we can stay at and we found City View Inn. I called the hotel from Canada and the person I was talking to gave me a really good deal on the hotel that includes free wifi (very slow connection from our room), parking, & breakfast (who can't say NO to that?) so I booked the hotel right away without reading the reviews online. As days go by, I kept thinking about the hotel so I decided to read on the reviews and got worried on how horrible the reviews are online….we basically took the chances and still checked in our hotel. The place and parking lot looks small, but there are more parking in the back of the hotel. There's a blue plastic bag on the outside sign of the hotel and as soon as you go in the front door, a smell of cigarette smokes will welcome you. We checked in our hotel but the front desk associate wants us to pay for the hotel ASAP without us checking our rooms first, so we have asked the person if we can check the room prior to paying, s/he let us check one of the vacant room and the room looks decent so we paid him right after. This hotel only have ONE very slow and old elevator (better off to take the stairs)!! We got into our assigned room, and surprisingly the room is huge considering its a hotel near Manhattan, we still had plenty of space for the kids to run around! We checked the beds for bed bugs (didn't see anything), checked the AC if it works, all in all the room was in perfect condition…except for the bathtub, the water doesn't go down the drain well and my feet ended up soaked in the water while I shower. As I mentioned above, this hotel offers a complimentary breakfast from 6am-10pm, there's not a lot of food selection, but it was sufficient enough to fill us up in the morning. The food that they served was scrambled eggs, donuts from DD, make your own waffle, bagels, and fruits. I would definitely stay at this hotel once again if we ever decide to visit NYC again.
PS. if you're planning to tour NYC make sure to make a reservation from Topaz tours that the hotel offers! Good price and very accommodating tour guide…oh and clean air conditioned shuttle service!

Unfortunately I have to pick at least 1 star because this place really deserve lesser than 0 even!
Horrible experience! Rude, unprofessional, & unfriendly staff who loves to lie!
We got this hotel through Hotwire mystery deal.
We pulled at this hotel's tight parking lot late at night. Small lot is definitely not for big car/trucks & I will for sure not risk it by bringing new car unless you like dings/scratches.
We got the room on the 5th floor & it was just ok but soon I realized that I was not able to connect to the free internet info I got during the check in. Since I was really tired, I didn't care & just slept.
Next morning I spoke with this really unfriendly & rude Indian/Sri Lankan/Bangladeshi lady, Didi/Bibi. First she acted dumb & then told me to connect to a totally different SSID than what was listed on their card. Also told me that someone will check it out & it should be good when we come back. There was no apology or nothing like that for the inconvenience.
Nearest subway station is 1 mile. You can walk or they have a what's called "free shuttle service that runs every 30 mins" till 10 PM. Let me clarify. There is NO shuttle service that runs every 30 mins. What actually happens is that you go to the front desk & then they will call this taxi company to come & pick you up. This taxi can take anywhere between 15 to 30 mins to pick you up. On your way back it is the same story. You call the hotel & then they will call this same taxi company to pick you up from the station. You basically wait at the station for however long it will take for the taxi to arrive. So if you are in a hurry then forget about their "shuttle service." Also, you are only allowed to use the shuttle 2 times a day max. 1 to go out & 1 to come in.
Upon my arrival back to hotel in the evening, There was still no internet. I immediately called downstairs & this African American clerk had no clue about my issue & told me different irrelevant stuff to do. Finally he told me that he will sent somebody at night to fix it. Whole night passed & nobody showed up.
Next morning, again no internet, I called downstairs & this time this rude Filipino guy answered. Again, had no clue what I was talking about but did offer me to move downstairs which supposedly had internet for sure. I got the key for the new room & went to check it out first. Shockingly someone was still living in it. I opened the door & there were clothes & all personal items of someone all over the room. Good thing no one was inside. I went downstairs again. Filipino guy acted like I was joking or something like that. He didn't want to believe me that the room was still occupied. He was keep arguing with me instead of apologizing. I finally got the key for another room which was fine. Again, no apology or anything like that.
Next morning I had enough of the inconvenience & while checking out with the same rude & unfriendly lady, Didi/Bibi, I saw someone else angrily complaining to the owner/manager. He was complaining about the construction crew working on the exterior of the hotel right from the dawn time. Disturbing his comfort. The guy was also checking out after staying for only 1 night. After the guy was done, I made my complaint. Owner right away told the rude lady to issue me 25% off. He told me Hotwire will issue me 25% credit back soon.
Upon my return back to home weeks passed & I didn't see no credit. I called Hotwire & they had no clue what I was talking about. They call the hotel to confirm about the 25% credit. Believe it or not, hotel lied to Hotwire by saying that they never said 25% & it was supposed to be only $25! Can you believe that? Just unbelievable. Even my wife confirmed that he clearly said 25% & not $25. Why would I settle for just $25 after going through so much inconvenience & hassle for which nobody cared to apologize or anything like that. Hotwire spoke with both the rude lady & the owner & they both flat out lied.
Again, don't go here just to save little bit of money. You will regret! There is a reason this hotel is merely 2 stars overall!
