This is one of the best places to go if you're lgbt . it really isn't just a health center . the doctors and staff really care . I've been going there since I was 16 .. I am now 30 and I will not go anywhere else.

Great place for those who have limited funds. Sliding scale helps. If you can afford it, and have insurance, you'll get more attention elsewhere. Most of the doctors and other staff are great, but because of the heavy case load you don't tend to get a lot of face time with your doctor. Although most of the health care professionals are great, try to avoid Eddie Meraz. He's a Nurse Practioner, not a doctor, which is fine. Often times NP's and PA's have more time to spend with patients and are easier to deal with than doctors, but in Eddies case, in my opinion, he is not at all friendly, or professional. In fact, He was one of the most unprofessional health care professionals I've had the misfortune of coming in contact with. I'm sure the case load is difficult at CL, but apparently Eddie just can't handle it. Stick with the other care providers and you'll be OK.

Love this place, been going there for years.
I saw a few bad reviews that I'd like to address. If you call at a busy time, expect to be on the phone for a long time. They are a very busy place because they help a lot of people, to me, this is understandable. As far as gossiping, just tell a higher up. The only people I know might gossip are the interns or new young volunteers. After being spoken with a couple of times, I'm sure they'll stop. I've only seen a couple of people like that. They were always younger and got fired rather quickly, so don't fret too much :) the doctors are extremely friendly and helpful.
As far as pricing and insurance, if you don't have insurance and have no money, everything will be free. Any donations would be greatly appreciated, but are never forced and are rarely, if ever, asked for. The most they'd probably charge you is five dollars for something that should cost hundreds, and even then, it's optional (from what I understand). I've never been charged once.
It's a very welcoming and friendly environment. So, don't be scared to give it a try. I feel quite comfortable there, even though I have severe social anxiety.

If i could give this place zero stars i will. This facility is the worse over. First your confidentiality is not secure. They gossip among themselves about you, and are very unprofessional. Some are very cocky, and look down on you. No one knows whats going on, and to be very honest, they can careless about what is going on. Ive been with them for 5 years and they had changed alot. I am not recommending anyone here to this place. You can find a smaller doctor office that can do everything Callen-Lorde do... And to remind you how long it takes to schedule a doctors appointment here at Calllen-Lorde: VERY LONG... Taking my business and medical problems somewhere else...
