Cafe Glechik

I like this place. The food is very tasty. Stuff also fine, I enjoy eating here. BUT what is the SERVICE CHARGE? What is it? Why we HAVE TO pay it? I all the time leave like 20% tip, but if there is a service charge I leave 10% only, even if I like serving more that for 20%. This is not right guys. This is the first cafe I see with "service charge"

I just called the restaurant to inquire about their "service charge" practice that was described by one of the posts here. Talking in their native Russian, I was explained that there is a 10% service charge that goes directly to the waiter in case a tip is NOT paid. The response was indicating that they require a 10% service charge which is how their waiters are paid. This is in addition to a tip that is a customary amount customers pay based on the level of service they receive. When I requested more clarity, I was overrun by a speech declaring that "every" restaurant, especially in NYC does it, and Glechik does the same. I suspect that a mandatory charge that is imposed to pay their waiter's salary is not legal in NY state. I would recommend people are comfortable with this payment "structure" BEFORE they enter the restaurant.

THESE GUY ARE THE BIGGEST ASSES I EVER SEEN, THEY DONT GIVE THEIR CUSTOMERS SOUR CREAM WITH THEIR ORDER, AND THEN THEY CHARGE $1 TO GET SOUR CREAM, FOR THE PRICES THEY CHARGE ITS INSANE HOW THEY SHIT ON THEIR CLIENTS INSTEAD OF TAKING CARE OF THEM.

PATHETIC SERVICE

Service can be somewhat abrasive at times, kind of a hit or miss, but the food is pretty good.

It's been a while since I had a great food with great service. Next time in New York will come back for more great food!!!
