First time there and I ordered the roast beef sandwich with a side bowl of matzo ball soup. The quality of the beef was above average and the soup was a grand slam. I am a Jersey guy who relocated to California to an upscale community heavily populated by Jewish families. The soup exceeded Cali. Yes, the prices are surprisingly reasonable.

So Broad St. Boosts they are the number 1 did er in NJ. Well I went there last night with a friend for the first time in 40 years. (Last time I was there it was called Stanleys diner circa 1970s). I was not impressed, I ordered the fried flonder, it was paper thin of each very small filet, the mashed potatoes and corn were lukewarm. The French onion soup was very good. My friend had the roster pork which looked very good and the portion was hearty. I would give it another try and then we will see it it is the best diner in NJ.

Let me just say, this diner is one of the best food establishments I've ever come across. I began coming here a few months ago after a friend recommended it to me. The food is out of this world, from the way it tastes to the way the chefs present it on the dish. The atmosphere is very friendly and inviting and the staff is so welcoming and accommodating. I noticed another Google review for this business written by MaryAnn Peragallo about a server there named Joe. He is a well-liked and friendly server who works at the diner. I happened to witness the interaction between MaryAnn and Joe and was disturbed by how disrespectful both her and her husband were to Joe. He was trying to help them because a waitress on her first day was running a little behind. They explained they didn't care that it was her first day and began to be very rude to Joe. I guess you can't please everyone. But as far as the Broad Street Diner and it's staff are concerned, I give it a 5 out of 5 stars. No wonder they were voted the #1 diner in NJ.

The first 2 reviews were right on the money. Great food, family atmosphere and clean establishment.
We have been going there since it was Stanley's Diner and have been happy there for 30 years. Until last night. We went for late night dinner after going to a movie and was in a very good mood. Something was off at the diner last night. The staff was overwhelmed with the amount of dinner guest and the service was slacking but ok till we got a young man named Joey who came over to wait on us. He took my order and then saying to me, will there be anything else, I said no. Figuring he would now take my husbands order, he walked into the kitchen. Calling for him with no response, another waitress came over and took my husbands order. Joey comes out and trys to tell us what he thought he said and when I told him what we thought happened, he got so pissy, walked away and served our dinner sliding things across the table saying nothing. Never came back to the table to see if we wanted coffee or dessert or wrap anything. Our check came with a different waitress who was apologizing all over the place but it doesn't excuse his rudeness and disrespect. It ruined my entire evening. When paying at the register Joey passed us and my husband said, you have the wrong attitude for this business. Joey just walked pass him like he wasn't there. My husband said, did you hear what I said, Joey said I didn't hear anything nor did I ask you anything. I had to get my husband out of there before things exploded. I highly recommend this place for the excellent food but if you get Joey for a waiter, ask for someone else. You'll be glad you did. Haven't yet decided if we will ever return. To bad, we live in town and love to eat there.
