Bagel Smashery

Bagels were hard.

This is a small friendly neighborhood place. I visit once every couple months, after only a few visits, they knew my name and my usual order. Smashed or not is a personal choice, I like the smashed, but indeed it changes the texture and I believe the taste - but you can order un-smashed if you like. I have not had an opportunity to use their delivery service.

The shop is quirky. It is the kind of place you could really like if the food was better. The woman who appeared to own the place was friendly, patient and helpful. Service was fast. The bagels seemed okay, but it was hard to tell how they would compare to other places in texture because they were smashed. I didn't mind, but my husband didn't care for the technique. The major problem was the quality of the other ingredients. If you go here, stick to something simple. We got a breakfast bagel and a bagel with strawberry cream cheese. The cheese and sausage were subpar; we couldn't even eat it. The "strawberry cream cheese" was actually plain cream cheese with cheap, gooey, artificial strawberry filling spread on top, likely out of a can. We had to try this place, but we won't be going back.

I enjoy eating here because it's a friendly environment. I really love that they have nutella for the bagels and you can make your own coffee, instead of someone trying to guess how you really like. The only thing i would suggest to the owners is that they should get a multi-grain bagel.

The bagels, tuna salad and scallion cream cheese were all awful, and I mean, we were pretty sure we were going to be sick. The process they use just made it worse. Then they charged 8 dollars for the plain with scallion. Idiotic. Do not eat here.
