Best reason to visit a chain restaurant in NYC?? Happy hour

No. Just no. I threw someone a surprise birthday party here and called ahead and made sure they got it right. We said a party of 10 at 7pm. We show up at 6:55pm and they started yelling at the birthday girl, pointing in our faces, saying our reservation was at 9pm and that we shouldn't have come in early. I called ahead and I made the hostess repeat it back to me. She was a redhead hostess. Super rude. Accused us of ridiculous things. When the manager showed up, she instantly blamed us and started yelling and all we could do is stare. Finally, another hostess intervenes and tells her she has the parties mixed up and that we were actually ON TIME. She then checks some list, which she should have done in the first place, and realizes we were right. After getting yelled at and accused and embarrassed in front of other patrons, a hostess leads us to a table for our party and boom. We find another family sitting where we were meant to sit. The hostess nervously said "I'm so sorry about that. Wait like 10 minutes." And we did. When we finally ordered, even though the birthday girl was CLEARLY celebrating a birthday because she was wearing a tiara, we got one of the most negligent waiters, we saw two OTHER people celebrate birthdays and saw them sing to the birthday people and also receive some sort of dessert. When we asked about it, they stayed quiet and just gave us our check.

Applebee's, you seriously screwed up. Seriously. Never EVER coming back here.

What horrible service! Wanted a table for 1 and several employes just standing there doing nothing with an empty dirty table looking them right in the face. 10 min without being seated, I walked out. No food is that good!!

I was there and observed an employee go into a bathroom stall and leave without washing his hands, then went straight into the kitchen. I brought this to the attention of the manager and he stated "I'll take care of it" and "I'll send him home". I never saw this male come out of the kitchen and left in disgust.
