A friend of mine and her family recently visited this facility . And they were heart broken when their family pet had to be put down . Weather this was truly necessary I'm unclear but they were very distraught . And to add insult to injury the staff was very mean to them bordering on abusive in the time of grief . I hope there is no racial biased behind their poor treatment .

This shelter does euthanize their animals after a certain amount of time.....do not take strays or any animal here.... because the possibility of them being euthanized is much higher than the possibility of them being adopted is!!!! This goes for all the ACC'S IN NEW YORK.

Worst experience ever , i had to give up my cat who loves going outside because she interacted with a stray and caught a respiratory infection , not knowing how much a vet would charge , i decided to gice her to this shelter in hope they would cure her and give her up for adoptiob as thwy said they would to me in person, 10 days later they put my baby to sleep with no warning or anything , when they themselves said they had 250 facility's in different states and that if she doesn't get adopted they would keep moving her around till she does , my heart broke knowing this was my fault for giving her to this pathetic facility that lied to me and made me believe she was in good hands

We adopted a kitten from their truck, 2 mo little poor baby girl a few weeks ago. When signing off the adoption paperwork, they ensured me that she was very healthy, no ear mites/infection, dewormed and current on her vaccinations. Since we have a 2 yo dog at home, I specifically asked the worker if there could be anything potentially passed on from her to dogs or humans, and SHE ENSURED me there would NOT be anything. A couple of days later, we took her to our vet and she was tested positive for roundworms. Roundworms can be passed on not only to dogs but also to humans. It turned out to be she was NEVER dewormed. She had to be dewormed twice, and so did my dog! We had to sanitize everything, change litters every 2 days and watch the two of them all them time. It also turned out that she had had an ear infection and a fever possibly caused by the ear infection. We called the shelter and questioned them about all these conditions, and they gave us round about answer and never explained why they lied on her deworming and other health issues. We just took her back for a follow up check up, and our vet found that she also had feline herpes and she has to be put on medication again for a couple of weeks. We called them back to follow up. When asked, their staff started off saying all animals up for adoption should be thoroughly checked and healthy and it is required by the law. When questioned on all her conditions, she was scared and said her supervisor had to call us back. We have not received anything from "her supervisor".

We spent about $1000 on her and all of treatment was considered to be pre-existing conditions and therefore not covered by the insurance.

This shelter is very irresponsible and not taking care of their animals. I can't help wondering if they really provided care to my kitten and what their vet did to her. I can't image what if the family adopted her could not afford all these treatment and abandoned her again and what if there was a little kid or pregnant woman in the family who might have been exposed to worms. What this shelter did definitely affected how we view adoption and our confidence and trust in these agencies.

To the one who says they don't kill the animals...they are on Death Row for a reason. They city is forced to take in all pets that no one wants anymore for any reason. These poor homeless and unwanted pets wind up killed for the only reason that their owners don't love them anymore. Adopt from kill shelters so they don't die. Shelter animals make the best friends.
Rob Astoria, are you for real? The ACC kills animals every day! They're heartless! There was a 2 day old kitten who was killed the same day, because no one knew about it. And they never bothered to check the gender. Nat was killed on 8/14/15, the day they were not supposed to kill anyone! So you should do your research! Over 300 cats are killed monthly, so how can you say they don't kill?! I follow them all the time and share them all over social media trying to get them homes, you don't know what goes on here! No care at Animal Care Centers! They kill, they don't find them homes!
