This place is the worst place to rent a car . They are rude and they don't return your money back when they say they are. Do not rent from here because you will get screwed over.

Wrost service. I have booked a car from Newark airport to pick at the early hours 2:00 am they not even bothered to inform me that car is not available. They said sorry that they can not arrange any vehicle. Horrible situation. All my plans cancelled.

It is a horrible rental car company. I reserved a rental from them. I missed my flight, so I called them to let them know and to make sure I would have the car ready for me when I arrived because I would arrive at midnight. I was promised and confirmed that the car would be there for me. When I got there, the counter person told me that they didn't have any car available because I was late. After I told him about earlier call confirmation, he found out the message in his computer, he changed and told me he has an expensive car, I have to pay more and have to buy additional insurance even though I have rental car insurance. The price was outrageous. I refused to take it and later he found a 7 passenger mini van. I couldn't take it because it was too big for me. I was forced at midnight to take a rental car from next rental car company to pay whatever they had to charge me. I was so mad. so when I came back home, I called the rental office again to file complaint. The office manager Daniel made up all kinds of excuses - maintenance problems, plate was about to expire, etc. so I called corporate office. Iris - district manager called and tried to find out the whole situation. After I told her, she promised to investigate and get back to me. Never receive any calls from her. This is the way Advantage rental car company does business. Be careful. If you don't want to be left behind hanging, don't do business with them. The confirmation means nothing to them. Horrible experience. If there is negative X, I will mark a lot. I don't want other people have this kind of experience.

WORST CAR RENTAL COMPANY LIKELY IN THE HISTORY OF CAR COMPANIES!!!
If I could give this company no stars, I would. Worst customer service. No one should pay a CENT to this company. I hope someone from Advantage sees this and talks to me directly.
We arrived in Newark early Saturday morning and we waited in line for a long time behind a woman who had been waiting for 20 minutes. One lady was helping a guy who got his business taken care of, while the man (who helped us) was working with a group that obviously was not getting the car they had rented or wanted. The lady in front of us finally got her turn and you could tell her conversation was not going well. Both her and the group eventually went to the side.
We went up to the guy, who wasn't very chipper to begin with, and we asked for our car. My dad had just renewed his license and we live in Vancouver, so when you renew your license, they give you a paper that acts as a license until your new one comes in the mail. When you renew it, they take your expired license from you. This man asked for my dad's license and my dad gave him the paper. The man, with an attitude, asked for his license again even though my dad had just handed it to him. He was confused because apparently a license has to be an actual card in the world this guy lives in and a paper that has been issued by Vancouver apparently does not constitute a license. He then proceeded to ask for the expired license. In what world do you get handed back an expired license, especially in a world where people sell old licenses or IDs to underage teens? Dumb. Then he proceeded to say that this license does not count and he can't use it for the reservation. We eventually asked to speak to the manager, who he said was not present. He then said he would call the manager but already knew what the answer would be. He went to the back for a few minutes and VERY LIKELY pretended to call the manager. Knowing this company and this man, there is no way that phone call actually took place. He told us the manager said no and that the license does not count and we cancelled our reservation since they were not offering us anything with their crappy, horrendous service). We then proceeded to go to the different car companies on that floor, NONE OF WHICH had cars or if they did, were super expensive! We came back to Advantage and this man suddenly decided he would see if a car was available. What happened to the paper license not being valid? How can you suddenly change your mind? Once again, HORRENDOUS SERVICE. He took us outside and showed us a huge car that would cost us over a grand.. So I asked him what happened to the economy/compact car we were originally going to rent. He said it wasn't available. That means even if he did give us the reservation he was either going to give us another car for a higher price, which he was trying to do, OR he was lying to our faces (AGAIN) and did have a car available. We left and searched some other companies and when we came back, we saw a few more disgruntled customers who had been promised cars but did not get one. And that group from the beginning was STILL THERE. Seriously worst customer service, worst company. I don't know why this man works at a job where he has to speak to customers if he can't even smile when he greets them. They screwed so many people's travel plans up. If I book a car over Expedia, I expect the car that I want to be there. I don't care if it's a weekend in a busy airport/city, I booked a car and I better get it.
We booked a car for the following Wednesday with Enterprise, called them to make sure they would have a car, and they ensured us we would get one. They picked my parents up from our hotel and when we dropped off the car, even got us an Uber. Never, ever try to save any money by choosing Advantage because they SUCK and will make you spend even more money. Go to Enterprise, or if you've had good experiences with other companies, go there.
DO NOT GO TO ADVANTAGE, THEY HAVE TERRIBLE SERVICE AND WILL SCREW YOU OVER. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

I noticed that most of the reviews for this place was terrible. However, because it was so cheap, I still wanted to try them.. I made a reservation one week in advance. I showed up on time to pick up my car, but they told me that they don't have a car and told me that I have to wait about 3 hours..!! they also told me that there are 5 more people in front of me and they are all waiting for their cars. I did not want to waste my 3 hours. I cancelled my reservation and walked to the next counter (budget) and tried to get a rental car and they and they wanted over $320 for two day rental (standard size).. I guess Budget gets a lot of last min booking due to this lousy rental car company. (my original rental with Advantage was $75). I logged on to Orbitz and reserved a car for $100 (Alamo). There was no wait and they were great.. I will never use Advantage again.. As some positive reviewer noted, I am sure some may have had an OK service.. but don't take chances with your valuable trip.. Just rent a car from a bigger, reputable company..
