Zen Vegetarian

I love the chicken nuggets for they are seasoned to perfection as well as the garlic spinach for the same reason. I did not enjoy the lemon chicken meal it was weird. The staff is nice. The prices could be better but since the food is good and neatly prepared I buy it anyway.

I first fell in love with Zen for their delicious soy ice cream shakes (pistachio for the win!). Then recently I decided to sample some of their meat substitutes. Am I ever glad I did. Even after their commute to my apartment, a journey during which many foods become unbearably soggy, the soy chicken nuggets were crisp and crunchy and tasted amazing. Couldn't even tell it wasn't real chicken. The beef, while it lacked a distinctly beefy flavor and was instead reminiscent of slightly spicy sausage, had a nice texture nonetheless and was an interesting choice I'm glad I tried. The vegetables tasted fresh and were also still a bit crunchy, with the perfect amount of sauce. And the spring rolls are tasty too, but that's nothing new. I think this place just became my new go-to! Plus everyone there is super nice :)

Tip: They also currently have cheesecake by the slice, but it's not on the menu.

This is usually one of my favorite spots. Delivery guy refused to come up today, saying he was driving and couldn't find parking. Whatever, not the worst thing in the world. I go downstairs to wait, and see there's a spot right in front of my door, and the driver hadn't even arrived yet. Normally I'd only be mildly irritated- except I'm 9 months pregnant, I live on a 4th floor walk up, and its one bazillion degrees out. I told the driver I was pregnant on the phone, didn't want to hear it. I always tip a little extra, I wish I hadn't of done that. I'm learning my lesson- only cash tips for good service from now on :(

I ordered the curry chicken lunch special with a jasmine tea. It was less than $10! Pretty good too. This place looks and feels like the typical cheap Americanized Chinese takeout place, but it's all vegetarian.

Amazing food! Everything is vegetarian and all the 'meat' is soy protein. The way they shape and cook the soy protein makes it so perfect in its texture that even a carnivore could be tricked into thinking it was meat. A perfect place for anyone to try whether you're vegetarian or not. The food is great and the staff is wonderful. Amazing place to have in the area.
