Z's Iron Works

Since there are not to many -- maybe two Iron works companies in the Hoboken area -- I ended up using Z's to make a quick fix on our building's front gate. They offered fast service and did the job lickety split. So now we're having them refurbish our fire escape and I'm running into problems dealing with them. During our first walk-through estimate with them, I said that we wanted everything scraped, coated with Rustoleum primer and then painted. They said "sure, we've been doing this for 35 years, we'll take care of it." Well folks, I'm learning a lesson since I didn't read the estimate carefully, it only says "Scrape and paint" and by scrape, they barely took off the old paint, and just repainted over it. Which looks like crap, since it's rough and can easily be chipped off. I'll update you when I confront him tomorrow about it and see what he has to say.
