Okay, so let me start by saying I am THE pickiest person in the world. And trust me when I say, I've been through my fair share of hair dressers. It is literally impossible for me to find someone I can stick with because no one can ever live up to what I expect.

With all of this being said, J LYNN is AMAZING. She is the most thorough and patient hair dresser, and I was blessed to have found her. Yes, I may sound dramatic, but when you've been through more than 15 hair dressers this is a MAJOR KEY. I'm a New York native and I found her when she was working in SoHo and heard that she had recently moved to this location so I knew I HAD to book an appointment. No exaggeration, my excitement was hard to contain.

From the moment I walked into this salon I was very impressed with the decor, it's very bright with a touch of edge.. and as modern as this salon is, there's a warm welcoming feeling when you walk in. I fell in love with the charcoal floor.
It was good vibes all around, the receptionist Jay greets you with a huge smile and very promptly after is J Lynn's assistant asks to take your coat and offers you a robe to protect your clothes and water/coffee/tea/wine (no judgement on what time it may be... its 5 o'clock somewhere).

I was immediately seated at J Lynn's station and she came over with a huge smile and arms open excited to see me as much as I was to see her. My hair follicles were tingling knowing they were about to receive some well needed TLC. We spoke about what I wanted to do with my hair and she quickly got into it, we had some major damage repair to do.

I have extremely dark hair and its been through hell and back. Tons of color build up. She decided to give me a full head of highlights to lighten me up and did a color melt so that the growing out process would transition much softer for the months in between not seeing her. As I remembered her, she is super patient and makes sure that every strand of hair is accounted for. Nonetheless, AMAZING.

For someone that is as detailed oriented as myself, it's important to not only see your hair being done properly but to know that there isn't any hidden mishaps happening to the back of your head. And of course, without doubt my hair came out absolutely fabulous. Color melted to perfection, J Lynn is the BEEZNEEZ.

I love this new salon, I love her. I will be forever faithful, regardless of the distance I need to go to see her!

Stopped in for a haircut yesterday. I just moved to the area so I need a new stylist.

Pros: Friendly people, nice looking shop, products used on hair seem nice, really like some aspects of the haircut (like my bangs).

Cons: I gave the stylist the same three criteria I always have - it has to be simple to style, I want something that sweeps across my forehead in some fashion, it doesn't have to be long enough to fit into a pony tail but I don't want it short. She suggested a bob, which is usually what I get so that was fine. However, she started cutting in the back so I couldn't see just how short it was until it was too late to stop her. She actually had to use an electric trimmer on the back of my neck because it's so short. I mentioned not being comfortable with the length, but of course there isn't anything they can do about that. Normally I wouldn't worry about it and go somewhere else next time after this grows out, but I'm getting married in May so I'll be stuck with short hair or having a weird half grown out haircut.

UPDATE: The day after posting this review the owner of the salon called me and asked me to come back in. He was very apologetic over the phone and offered to do my hair the day of my wedding. While I declined his offer to return I did appreciate the effort. If it had been as simple as a change in style I have no doubt we could have rectified the situation. I have since changed the rating from 2 to 3 stars.
