Wolfgang's Steakhouse Park Avenue

Great steaks we tried porterhouse, sirloin, and prime rib. Each cut was cooked to perfect medium rare as requested, the sides complemented out meal well. Not a huge fan of the bread, hard to get a reservation, and it can get loud easily. Service was excellent as you would expect.

Sadly this isn't a great experience. The prices are very high which is ok but the quality isn't. We ordered a porterhouse for two dor 100 bucks. I asked our waiter where the beef is from and he didn't know. For a steak restaurant this is unforgiveable. The beef is texan. I asked a few probing questions from the head waiter who explained that in europe, where we are from (scotland), they don't age beef. Well, the steak was aged to be sure but the flavour was masked by what i think was a spice rub on the steak before broiling. Shame because the character of the meat was lost. He assured me there was no rub. The head waiter hadn't heard of scottish meat before like aberdeen angus or indeed that argentina had good meat. For any reader, they should know that the tradition of ageing steak in scotland continues to this day. Also that most beef of repute orginates from scottish stock. So the head waiter didn't like my polite but questioning tone. In fact he appeared to take great exception to it. Don't order the tomato and onions. Its 11 buck or so for two thick cut slices of onion and beef tomato. Undressed. Anyhow, we agreed with the last reviewer that an automatic tip is not acceptable. I left 5%. Every other experience in NYC we have left 20% and in one case 40%. See my other reviews. The waiter argued with me about it so i downgraded the review to a 1 star. Avoid this place untill they up their game.

In my opinion it's the best steakhouse on the east coast. Can't find a better steak anywhere. German potatoes are out of this world too.

It was my first time to receive a check with PRINTED tip in my life. If it is traditionally accepted in the restaurant, please let me know. Anyway, i was so pissed off and asked the server to bring new check. I was not going to pay for tip. And, one of my friends gave $10 for tip. What is more, waiter said that "DO NOT COME BACK". Yes. I won't. THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Highly overrated. Never once asked if we enjoyed our meal. Everything was thrown on the table. I had the crab cake and my son the prawn cocktail ??? Absolutely tasteless.
We were in and out in just over a hour and that for $500. NOT VALUE FOR MONEY!!!!! DAYLIGHT ROBBERY !!!!!
