Westchester Day School

I graduated WDS this year, and WDS is an outstanding school

I am currently an eigth grader at WDS and I will be graduating in June. WDS is an outstanding school that provides opportunities for every student to shine. For example, recently I wrote an article for Westchester Jewish Life explaining how WDS celebrated Israel's 62nd birthday. Additionally, the campus is magnificant. When one looks out the back windows of the school on a sunny day, the scerene view of the Long Island Sound looks like a backdrop to a movie set. In terms of the education provided by the school's remarkable teachers, it differs in many positive ways from other Modern Orthadox Day Schools in the area. The teachers instill in us a passion for the subjects that they teach and throughout the years I have had amazing teachers who I have become close with. We are taught from an early age that the Torah and Israel are very important in our day to day lives. This year, the eighth grade had the opportunity to study the issue of Iran's posession of nuclear weapons with a parent of an eighth grade student who is an active AIPAC member. Additionally, there are many great trips that the students get to partake in like the yearly trips that the 1st-5th graders take to the MET or the MOMA. In 6th grade, the trips vary depending on the year and teachers. In 7th grade, the students go on a two day, one night trip to Boston, Massachusetts. The 8th grade visits Washington D.C. and meets with different congressman and they visit many intresting historical sights that are important to our nation. In conclusion, I love Westchester Day School and the education and I experiences that occured there with be the memories that I will never forget.
