Bruce Calligaro is an unskilled surgeon who attempts to conceal it with strong social skills. His employees are rude and/or slovenly. I was very disappointed with the results of a "routine" procedure on a bone spur. Then Calligaro made two mistakes on a prescription.

I made my appointment, I filled out all the forms, went there and waited 20 minutes. ... I have an insurance plan that has a deductible. Mine did not reach the needed amount yet and the card states that the copay should be collected AFTER the deductible has been met. They wanted to collect the copay immediately, I told them they should not collect it. A little later they wanted to collect even more money without billing the insurance. They told me they checked how much I would be paying after the copay.(?) They said it is the office policy to collect upfront, but with deductible insurance it should not be the case. They accept the insurance but clearly do not understand how it works. It even says on my card in CAPS, "COPAYMENTS APPLY AFTER THE MEMBER HAS MET THE DEDUCTIBLE." My husbands company reimburses our deductible after the doctor's office submits the claim to the insurance, but if I pay out of my pocket I won't be reimbursed. I wasted my time there while I could have gone somewhere else.

PROBLEM: Billing Department may not have correct knowledge about handling Horizon Advantage EPO packages or other Insurance Policies. They were going to charge me $80 even though my Insurance Card specifically not to pay until my deductible is paid.

RECOMMENDATIONS for NEW PATIENTS: Please do your due diligence before going in this office so you do not waste your time. I'm sure they are nice people and staff; unfortunately this happened because the Billing Department Representative did not understand our Horizon Advantage EPO Policy.
