Many great childhood memories created here, from 4th of July to summer family picnics. It provided respite from weary urban living as we commuted from Newark.

Beautiful park. Loved going there to walk, jog or just to lay around. Been coming here since I was born. I still love it 29 years later. Jersey Girl all the way!!

As a daily runner, I sorely missed the track at Warinanco. The wait seemed worth it a few weeks ago when the new $4 million facility finally opened after a year. Sadly, the same abuses of the track that led to its deterioration are beginning again. When organized soccer clubs use the new field, their spectators stand on the track and get in the way of runners. Younger children play ball on the track. Already, I have had to deal with bicycles. I would hope that, before renting the field out to the soccer clubs, county officials explain that the track must remain open without spectators and players. I witnessed several near collisions between runners--some of them from Roselle's high school team--and children playing with soccer balls on the track. I almost collided with a man taking pictures in the middle of the track (he recorded me asking him to stop but ignored me). When a few of his friends came to support him, I felt threatened and left--so the track I anticipated using for a year has been denied to me again.
