This is the most beautiful hotel. The kindest staff, I was met with Philipe and he took great care of me and was very attentive and helpful. The inside is like a dream, luxury and beautiful old style New York. Best place in the world in this crazy city!

The hotel has an old historical feeling. A big glorious lobby for check in. Our room was very humid and hot. The heat wouldn't shut off no matter what we tried. The tv was good no msg msg+ or nhl network to watch hockey. The bed and pillows were super soft and comfortable. Room service waldorf salad was delicious but you would need 4 of them to make a regular size adult salad for 1. The hotel staff was very polite and smiled. Unfortunately the guy outside who puts your luggage in the taxi is a grouch and demanded a tip for placing two tiny bags in the trunk without asking us to do so. Last impression was a fake smile and a rude baggage man who had the taxi wait while he said you got something for me. As the taxi pulled away we watched him muttering what looked like dirty curse words. I was unprepared only carrying 20s. We needed to make a train and didn't need to be stressed out about an angry bell man who expected a tip. The meeting room louis was good and our business lunch was awesome. Great waldorf salad unlimited and the veggie wraps are absolutely delicious. I usually tip everyone and would have remembered that guy and tipped him double but not after that experience. Couldn't access wifi had to sign up for hilton membership but felt that was unnecessary as a guest of a luxury hotel. It's definitely a nice place to stay in manhattan.

I stayed at this hotel with my mother last year. We had live cockroaches crawl over our bed. I called the front desk and they sent security and a so called manager on duty. I showed them pictures of the live bugS on the bed. When the security lifted the mattress they found more dead and alive cockroaches. They moved us to another dirty room. We had to move again to another room in such a hurry we left and lost personal items. Then, to add insult to such a frustrating stay they over charged us on our final bill. When we tried to get it resolved by telephone we were routed to someone that did not speak English. They were impossible to deal with. I still have the pictures of the cockroaches on my telephone and share them with friends. We were disgusted and over charged at the Waldorf Astoria NYC. CHECK FOR COCKROACHES IN YOUR BED!

We upgraded to the Waldorf Towers and spent blizzard weekend here. It was great. I felt very pampered. The staff is attentive and capable.
Our room in the Towers was quite large and had a great view of the snow-bound city. The furnishings were elegant but a little battered by time, and could use a refresh.
The only downside of our weekend was an extremely long wait for our room service order to arrive, but this was forgivable given the extraordinary circumstance of a hotel full of guests with most restaurants in the area closed for business.

I've stayed in this hotel, hosted a conference and dinner here and attended a corporate event most recently. It's an experience to stay and visit this hotel and they do a solid job for event planners. If you have a large group, chances are you'll be in multiple spaces and the walk isn't really that bad from space to space. In fact, it's quite pleasant to see the various elegant parts of the hotel, including a gorgeous clock near reception.
