I went here for an event hosted by Buzzfeed and Jolly Ranchers. It's a nice space meant for a club or random party event.

I have yet to attend a bad event here. This is an event space that rents out for a night or a week, from Samsung to Ricoh to Sailor Jerry's Rum. The rooms are spacious, there's a stage and great sound system, and it's just blocks from the Bedford L train stop. If you're a company in need of a short-term space, Villain is convenient to several thousand hipsters. And if you're a hipster who gets an invitation bearing this address, know it's going to be a quality party.

Okay, it's not so much the place, but what's there when it comes to spending a night out at Villain. Mostly an event space, you'll have to take your chances on what you attend. That said, it's usually worth it. Home to such regular events such as CMJ showcases and Red Bull Music Academy shows / talks, it's pretty much worth it to take that long (and perhaps cold) walk to the waterfront for entry. The space is split into two halves with large openings connecting the two spaces on each end. Lots of ceiling space makes it ideal for art or photo booth installations. The acoustics are pretty good considering the make up of the building and that really does go a long way in the experience. The restrooms are pretty sufficient, given that there are actually 3 locations inside -- 2 single persons and 1 multi-user... all unisex. That said, men would most likely be using the the unisex one more, and the ladies should tend towards the single occupancy... it can get wild in there.

Great event space. Brick building with 2 main halls, a limited coat check and an upstairs "rec room" full of TVs of various sizes with video game systems hooked up to them. The event I went to had free food and drink offers and then cheap drinks after you've taken your free offer. There was even a surprise musical guest. I was thoroughly pleased with the event I attended and look forward to seeing what other events this place has in store.
