Severely understaffed. Available non-medical personnel, i.e., social worker, etc. are inefficient. Leaving a message on the various answering machines with your name, name of the patient-resident, phone # and reason for calling and NO ONE EVER CALLS BACK?!! I'm sure there are many success stories but communication is vital and my relative's ability to handle a simple phone can easily be compromised when the phone near the bed is away from the patient. Really do need a monitor in the entire place walking around into each room to ensure everything is in place, etc.

I don't think staff are lazy as much as being asked to do far too much for too many. If you had to answer numerous call bells, get patients to bathrooms, serve food, help them into bed, etc., you'd likely think you were overworked and in need of help.

More basic aids and this facility would shine. PTs, OTs, nurses are great, abundant, helpful and well-trained. They do their best for a population made up mostly of elderly folks who require aid more than the general pop. Some aids are terrific while some not-so-much, as in any facility. You learn and adapt. But agree that case worker is a bit lazy. Almost never see her except randomly in passing in the hall every now and then. She's really not that good. I've only "seen" her once since I've been here. And that's going on three weeks. But who knows her caseload? I certainly don't. So maybe she's like most in the facility. Overworked and tasked with a case too many.

One person's complaint is another's understanding of a difficult, yet easily fixable staffing situation. The union, 1199, needs to hire more staff. Easily said but likely bureaucracy involved of which, again, I have no idea. I simply know the staff here work hard given the situation they're give,

Plus the rarely-used and beautiful roof deck only adds to the facility.

I rate it an A-.

And the most important thing people should be worrying about is, of course, getting better. I'm doing that and I've been here for three weeks. My left leg could barely move and now it walks, albeit with a walker walker. And I took my first steps without it last weekend because of a confident and great physical therapist.

I was a patient for 3months , from mid Sept. until the end of Nov., My first impression was the malaise of the Aides, I asked if they were minimum wage and was informed they were union with benefits. I found the staff disorganized, and there was no accountability. The Physical Therapy , was excellent and the Recreation Dept. was caring, they even obtained a voting proxy for me since I was there on election day..This was above and beyond ..
