I had a terrible experience working with Jason Gray and Village Dwellings. They are very hard to communicate with as I had to check up on them multiple times after every step pf the way and they lead you on for days after they collect your application fee, let alone not tell you that there are other people applying for the apartment. Did not even have the courtesy to make a phone call and provide an update or introduce himself. I have worked with many brokers in NYC and this was by far the worst experience. Be wary.

I got my West Village apartment through Village Dwellings. They were really pleasant to deal with-- no hard sell, because they have exclusive rights to many if not all the units they show, and they know if you don't take it someone else will in a heartbeat. They were slightly flexible with their fee, and again, they didn't have to be, so I really appreciated it. Paying a broker's fee is no fun, so by all means avoid it if you can, but if you can't, these people are a welcome break from the usual broker runaround.
