A magic place, almost hidden. This non-profit offers public rowing twice a week (every Sunday afternoon and either Tuesday or Wednesday evening after 5:30 pm), which means that pretty much anybody can walk in (if you can find the little grey door), grab a life jacket and be part of a 4 to 8 strong crew that will then brave the Hudson River in a wooden row boat. The majority of the boats are Whitehall Gigs, traditional cargo shuttle boats from the days of tall ships.
Amazingly they also build and maintain the boats right there as well.
While they offer memberships, this non-profit provides the public row sessions for free as a service to the community and beyond.
Donations are appreciated as this is a volunteer-run non-profit organization.
A most unique place in NYC delivering unforgettable experiences of the city on the water.
