Upper Montclair Eye Care & Wear

I have purchased several pairs of glasses from them over the years. They carry my favorite frames. This past year I returned to purchase new frames. It was recommended that I have a baseline eye exam due to my age and now that I had Medicare, the exam would be covered. I thought that was a good idea since there have been some hereditary eye issues in my family. The doctor explained what he was examining and why. He explained that I might have the beginning of glaucoma. I requested a written report for my own records indicating exactly what tests he did and what my baseline numbers were. He confirmed that he would email me a written report. Fast forward. After 5 phone calls guaranteeing me a report and months later I still don't have my baseline. Medicare and my insurance have paid for this examine. Yet I still don't know exactly what my baseline eye health is. I believe I am legally entitled to a written report. This is poor customer service and I can't recommend them anymore.

Please be aware, that while the doctors and staff at Upper Montclair Eye Care & Wear are top notch, so are the frame prices! Most of the frames for sale in the shop are designer brands north of $350 each. Even with our very good insurance, our bill for two pairs of sunglasses and two pairs of eye glasses would have been nearly $1500. Unfortunately, we weren't able to afford that so after our eye check ups, we took our prescriptions and looked elsewhere for more affordable frames.

If you have the means, I highly recommend this shop. Truly wonderful people work there and Dr. Rustagi is a gem. But if you need more economical choices for frames, you'll have to look elsewhere.

I would highly recommend Upper Montclair Eye Care and Wear!! Everyone working there is well trained, polite, extremely knowledgeable and informative and the exams are more thorough than I have had anywhere else. I would highly recommend this office!

Between all the eye doctors I have seen over the years, this has been the best experience thus far. The eye exam I received was the best ever. Very thorough exam with what seemed like some really high tech equipment. The best part - my vision despite my severe astigmatism is 20/20. Several other doctors had recommended eye surgery but Dr. Rustagi was able to give me 20/20 vision. They had great eye wear selection. I bought a pair of rimless frames with digital finish lenses (had to pay a little extra for the lenses but then its for my eyes). I can't even begin to tell you how clear everything looks now. These lenses are amazingly clear. Overall I am extremely happy with my experience and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an eye doctor.

Excellent customer service, examination and price for value. Found them after a long time. Would not go anywhere else even though little far from our home.
